Uppsala Skating Club (USK) is a non-profit sports association that conducts business
with the focus on skating and figure skating!
Skating School, which is the gateway to all the children ice skating, a purpose through
playful exercises teach kids elementary basic skills in skating. The business is ideal for
everyone, whether you want to be a hockey players, figure skaters, or if you just want to
learn to skate. Further develops important basic skills such as; balance, coordination,
agility, body perception and concentration. But equally important is that the children will
have fun on the ice along with other children and coaches. The groups consist of both
boys and girls classified according to age from four years upwards.
The season will consists of 10 times on the ice, one of these lecture include testing. Our
goal is that everyone should take at least one pin. There are up to eight. Pin No. 1
included in the fee. All riders, from skating to competition figure skaters, will also take
part in our Christmas show, ending the fall course.
Likewise, closing the spring course with our annual “Vårshow”(Spring show). The actual
days will be presented on Uppsala Skridskoklubbs calender on the Homepage. Book the
days with family and friends.
The registration to the course and the application to the membership are performed on
the Homepage. The both registrations are needed to get an approved participation. The
registration to the course is valid only for the applicable course (10 times on the ice). The
application to the membership is valid for both autumn and spring seasons.
Attendance Registration will be done in the rink!
USK:s café, during Sundays, the parents of the club arrange a café where you can buy
coffee and pastery.
Common amenity rules:
The helmet is compulsory for all children in the skating school, marking the helmet front
with the child's name, then it is easier for the coaches to quickly learn what the kids called.
Arrive in good time before the workout, the workout has begun, it is disruptive to both
the trainer and the other children with stragglers.
Toilet visits should be avoided during your workout, make sure that the child has been
to the toilet before the workout. Toilets are in rink´s Hall A and Hall C.
Not allowed to eat during a training session for security reasons it is not allowed to eat
sweets/ chewing gum on the ice.
Questions!?! Feel free to ask questions to the coaches if you have any questions, but
take them before or after session. Questions take the first place with your coach at a
training session. If this can not answer your question please contact Skating school by
email. The actual email address could be found on USK:s Homepage “Contact”. :
Absence; If the child can not come to training or decided to quit please inform your
coach. This is to skaters queued to be given a place in the club. Cancellation should be
sent to Skating school and Economy by email.
If someone is having and watch the practice, we refer them up in the stands as it is
distracting for both skaters and coaches to have relatives near the boards.
Information is provided through our Homepage. We update the site continuously, so we
recommend to visit the Homepage at least once a week. www.uppsalask.se
Skates should be fine and well functioning. The children's progress is largely dependent
on the skates quality. The skates should not be bought too big, they should fit the foot
and sit steadily. It is very important that the skates are of steady quality so that the ankle
gets proper support. The skates should be laced or buckled, so that it "feels good" to the
foot, not too loose and not too tight. It is important that the skates are sharpened. How
long rail stays depends on how often you go, the rider's weight and, above all, the rail
maintenance. Ask your coach if you are unsure of grinding. You can file for sharpening
skates at most bike shops. Never let your child go off the ice without using protection on
skates. The rails become dull after a "walk". Use skate guards of hard rubber to protect
the rail. Once you have removed the skates dry rail dry with a towel. Put not on guard
that you use to go with the skates from the ice, after wiping the rails. Let the skates to dry
thoroughly at home, never let the skates remain in your bag.
Dress will generally be warm but smooth and give full freedom of movement. One can for
example a tight trousers, a smooth sweater or light jacket. For the younger children also
work a regular suit. Gladly wear thin gloves and a thin hat under the helmet. Avoid jeans
because they often sit too tight and is one of the cool clothes.
The helmet is as important as the skates and it is mandatory! It is easy to fall before you
learn to master the surface properly and then protect the head from injury. A good helmet
should not be too large without a stable position, test so that you can put a thin beanie
underneath. A typical play-helmet / hockey helmet is good. Note the helmet front with the
child's name so it easier for coaches.
Actual Fee, see further Avgifter on the Homepage. If you wish to cancel, we want to
unregister itself, so that we can bring in others who want to learn to skate. All new riders
have the chance to try skating school two times before decides to go left. After the
second time you have to pay full price for the course. If your child does not want to go
left, you have to make a cancellation by email to Skating school and the economy. The
actual email address could be found on USK:s Homepage “Contact”.
We hope you and your child have a pleasant and rewarding season in Uppsala Skating
Club!
