Dynamic and Static Characters
Characters can be classified as static or dynamic. A static character is one who does not
change much over the course of a work. By contrast, a dynamic character changes as a result
of the story's events. Squeaky, the main character in this story, is a dynamic character.

A young woman is forced to wear rags and do all the manual labor of the household in
which she lives. Her fairy godmother enables her to go to the prince's ball, where she
realizes that she is as good as anyone else. When she returns home, she insists that they
all share the work. Her relatives refuse to accept this idea, so she gets a job, and moves
out on her own.

Two knights travel from tournament to tournament. They are always the finalists.
However, one knight gradually becomes tired of wounding and killing other knights in
these combats. He decides to take up a new life as a farmer. The second knight
continues to fight in tournaments until he is eventually killed.
