Pretend you are a world famous historian. You have been asked to present a report at an
important historical conference on this topic:
Which Mesopotamian Empire made the most significant impact on history?
Directions: On a separate sheet of paper, prepare a report that follows the structure outlined below. Your
report will consist of FIVE (5) paragraphs including. The introductory paragraph contains a “lead in” and
thesis statement that states your opinion as to which empire had the most significant impact on history. The
second and third paragraphs explain and give supporting evidence for your choice. You should describe at
least TWO accomplishments from your empire and explain why they make your empire the most accomplished.
The fourth paragraph is your critic’s paragraph. This paragraph explains why other groups were not selected.
As supporting detail, pick one group and show why it did not make as significant an impact on history. Finally,
the fifth paragraph (conclusion) will need to conclude your thoughts by restating your position/opinion and
your best reason.
