Final Exam: Review Sheet
The final is worth 150 points.

100 points cover the last third of the class (lectures 19 to 26). These
questions will have the same format as those on the two midterms; that
is, there will be fill-in, short answer, and multiple choice.

50 points are review questions from the two midterms. These questions
will all be multiple choice.
The review questions from the two midterms will be from the following categories:

Any of the questions from the two midterms could be repeated.
However, make sure you understand the point of each question,
because the repeat questions will be altered somewhat. For example,
the question might be slightly rephrased or the wrong answers changed.

New questions on review topics will be from the specific areas listed
below.
First Midterm
What is the sequence of events during an action potential? What opens
and closes the ion channels? Name some drugs that act on these
channels.
Review the material on the “Peripheral Neuropathy” webpage.
Review the “Multiple Sclerosis” webpage.
Review the “Release of Neurotransmitter” webpage.
Review the “Postsynaptic Potentials” webpage.
Review on the “Pain” webpage.
Review the “Spinal Reflexes” webpage.
Be familiar with the characteristics of Parkinson’s disease as discussed on
the “Central Motor Disorders” web page.
Second Midterm
Review open angle glaucoma and closed angle glaucoma
Review myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.
Review the diabetic retinopathy webpage and patient F.
Review the web pages “Human Memory” and “Cellular Mechanisms of
Learning and Memory”.
Know the characteristics of REM and NREM sleep, and how EEG recording
is used to distinguish different states of arousal. Review the web pages
“Regulation of Sleep” and “Sleep Disorders”.
