DAY 2. Dave Goddard (away), Mark Chapman (with Aces) and Ben Rainger (exams) were replaced. Cornwall continued solidly losing just
the odd wicket till Chemaly was run out at 155 after a mixup. Then more progress until 216 when Rav hit a purple patch with 5 wickets
falling and only 6 runs added. Rav received excellent backing – Billy, very tight & tidy, Mitch – economical & Hillsy came back to capture the
last 2 wickets. But it was Henry Glogau, on debut, who stole the show with his leggies in an 18 over spell in taking 1/55. That is, apart from
Rav’s 5/57 – just another fabulous performance. An excellent, tidy performance and great start to the 2 Day campaign.
Mike Ravlic – 5/57 off 22 overs!
Henry Glogau on debut – 1/55 of 18 overs

Fisher & Glogau - Club Record 8th Wicket Partnership of 103
Highlight of our innings – a Club Record 8th wicket partnership of 103 between Josh Fisher and Henry Gogau. This beat the previous record
of 100 set by JR Lundon (53) and A Fairburn (41) against North Shore in 1913/14. Both Josh and Henry are new to Parnell – Josh has come
over from AUCC and has represented Auckland U19s and EDCA Age Group teams. Henry, former Wellington College 1 st XI captain joined us
from Karori CC and played on Saturday as a replacement for Mark chapman (with the Aces) and in his own right on Sunday. And didn’t
Henry make the most of his opportunity!
Henry came in to join Josh at the calamitous total of 133/7 – Jack Coman, also on Prem debut, having been sadly run out. The two
then quietly and without fuss played each ball on its merit and proceded to deal to an attack that, up till then had dominated the day. A
quite wonderful effort which ended when Josh was stumped off that old campaigner, Bhupinder Singh, when the total was 236.
Not the end of proceedings – Billy Sanger carried on the good work till he was caught, now 253/9. Enter Mike Ravlic – not many
opportunities for our no. 11 but Rav made the most of this one. Henry then reached his maiden Prem 50 and Rav took toll of a tiring attack.
Fifty five had been added for the 10th wicket when Rav succumbed (well short of Moore and Dow’s record 98 set in 1920/21). Henry,
undefeated on 62 – a superb knock that rescued the team from a most perilous situation.
Then, just time for us to bowl 6 overs and, from Rav’s 5th ball, Tim Mc. Picked up Aujla at 1st slip. And, to add the cherry to the
icing on the cake, Josh had the Papatoe captain lbw to capture his first Prem wicket for Parnell,
And so ended a momentous day – in fact, a momentous weekend!

CAPTAIN TOM LANRIGAN REPORTS:
The Reserves travelled to Lloyd Elsmore Park for the top of the table clash with Howick-Pakuranga. After winning the toss, Parnell bowled
H-P out in the 50th over for 213. The standout was once again Special K. Karoon took 4-50 off his 10 overs. He was ably assisted by our
spinners Henk Conradie and Razin Bharde with two wickets each respectively.
Chasing 214 to win, we made a solid start with Henk compiling an aggressive 33 at the top. H-P's spinners came on and dried up
the scoring rate on a slow pitch. which resulted in regular wickets falling at inopportune times. It came down to us needing 9 off the last
two overs to win the game with Raz and Karoon batting. K pumped a maximum over cow to get us within 1 run of victory then calmly hit
the winning runs off the next ball. Win for the reserves by two wickets.

WATERBOY POOLE REPORTING:
The 3rd round of One Day games for the Parnell 3s continued a similar trend. An early finish. Winning the toss and bowling first, the Grafton
side got away to a slow but steady start before it all fell apart on the unlucky number 13. Simon Walker was the standout bowler with 3/24
and will help from Peter Hickman and Tom Urry who took 2 wickets apiece Grafton’s inning never got off the ground as they were bowled
for 85 in the 27th over. The star in the field for the 3rds was keeper Hayden Story who had a hand in 7 dismissals – 4 catches, 2 stumpings
and a runout. His day got even better in the chase where he was not out with 20 as Parnell chased down the 86 required in the 18th over
only 3 down. Small contributions from Kelly Lunow-Haldane and Ryan Turner made sure Parnell were never under pressure.
The inevitable – a wicket and celebrations. With that attack the injured Water Boy wasn’t missed!

CAPTAIN ROOPESH REPORTING:
Kings started the game on a beautiful pitch by winning the toss and decided to bowl.
Opponents got off to a good start by scoring couple of boundaries of the first over. But Aaron got Kings the first break quickly.
Batsmen skied a slower one and Roopesh made no mistake. Aaron and Arul had the batters in trouble few times but the extra's conceded
let the pressure away. With couple of sharp catches going down and few mis-fields, in no time they raised to 77 of 10 overs with just one
wicket down. At this stage, Kings were desperate for wickets. Sundar and Sownder, replacing the opening bowlers, did a great job. There
were few unplayable balls bowled by them. Sundar got us the much needed break when he got the outside edge of a batsmen with Roy
doing the rest. Sundar produced another beauty to get rid of the opening batsmen. Abrar replaced Sundar and got a wicket immediately had the batsmen plumb in front. This put a brake on their scoring to some extent. Opponents slowly managed to recover and build a steady
partnership. Roopesh tried all his options, in vain, to get a wicket. Vignesh was introduced into the attack and got a wicket in his second
over when the batsmen was caught by Arul just few inches within the boundary line. Vignesh continued to bowl a tight line and was
rewarded with couple of wickets. Nothing to loose for at this stage, opponents started to swing their bat on everything. Aaron came back to
bowl and had the right field setup to get his second wicket of the game. Couple of run outs, direct hit by Roy and athletic effort by Chak and
Roy, pulled the curtains down for the first innings.
Kings had a task to achieve with a target of 257.
Abrar and Chak opened the innings for Kings. Abrar wasted no time as he smashed a huge six of the first over. Chak got out
quickly when he tried to loft the ball over mid-wicket. Roy joined Abrar and both played some beautiful shots all over the park. Just when
the chase was heading in the right direction, Roy played a uppish square cut to be held at point. Roopesh walked into the middle but failed
yet again and was caught behind after scoring couple of boundaries. Praveen didn't affect the scorers and was caught at point the very next
ball. Bowler was on a hat-trick. Vignesh managed to flick one to the fine leg and could see a sigh of relief at Kings' camp. The next ball,
Abrar top edges a pull and his well made 42 comes to an end. Bowler couldn't believe his luck as he got 3 wickets in his first over. Sundar
made his presence felt with a massive six over long on. But lost his partner, Vignesh, the next over when he was given leg before wicket.
Kings middle order collapsed like a pack of cards. Pradeep and Sundar tried to steady Kings' chase by getting quick singles and converting
the one's into two's. Even before the Kings camp thought they were bouncing back, Sundar was caught at long off. Aaron arrived and
smashed couple of boundaries straight away. Next over, Pradeep's stumps were shattered. With eight wickets down, Kings were hoping for
Aaron and Sownder to repeat their magic of the first game. But opponents had other plans - Aaron was held beautifully at long on. Sownder
and AJ scored few boundaries between them before Sownder was caught at mid-wicket.
Kings lost the game by 85 runs. Full credit to Grafton Indo-Kiwi Incredibles. They outdid Kings in all three departments today.

The Indian bookmakers were at play as Ollie won the toss and batted.
Turns, fresh off his wedding anniversary..........,, hit the first two balls for 10 and got out soon after. Macca made a few before
Ollie and Darren got us through to 90/2 at the half way stage. Looking to accelerate Ollie got out soon after but Darren went on to get 102,
getting his last 50 in 6 overs. Baby G and Neil hit some quick runs and we finished with 215. The team noted that the skipper have another 2
LBW decisions!
Eden Roskill got off to a good start inspite of a good opening spell from Robbo. At the half way they were 119/2 and doing it
easy.
A great second spell from Robbo and some tidy bowling from Mark Smith pulled them back but unfortunately it was too little
too late and they got there with a ball to spare.

JAMES DUDSON, ONE OF OUR TWO EDCA REPS, REPORTS
Team Numbers
EDCA will have two teams in each of the boys grades. It is the first time that years 10 and 11 have had two teams in the competition. This
is good news for our players as they will have the opportunity to play in the tournament. The years 7-10 will be, as best can be achieved,
two equal teams. Year 11 and 12/13 will be an A and B team.
DoC
The Director of Coaching role for EDCA has been held by Garry Wood for many years. Well before my time. Garry has been offered a role
with Auckland Cricket for cricket development. He was over committed and decided to step down from EDCA.
On behalf of the EDCA committee and PCC I want to thank Garry for his hard work and never ending patience. Not to mention his
experience and knowledge. This is not an easy role with management of players and parents expectation on selections, team makeup and
on field play.
Ian West who is the Head Coach of GUCC Premier team has stepped into this role in the interim.
Team announcements
This is expected to be made by email on Sunday evening the 4th December. Ian West will send these out.

MERV WALLACE DAY – Sat. 17 December
Luncheon to Celebrate “Merv Wallace Day”
To be held in the Mike Simpson Lounge, 32 Shore Road, Remuera, Saturday, 17 December 2016 – gather from 11.00am for Noon.
Merv, if he had not died 9 years ago, would be celebrating his 100 th birthday on 19 December 2016. Merv joined Parnell CC as a 15 year old
in the 1932-33 season. Almost immediately he became a mainstay of our batting, quickly attained selection for Auckland and then NZ. For
NZ he toured England in 1937, when he topped the batting averages (1641 at 41.02), and again in 1949 when he scored 970 in May and,
overall, 1722 at 49.20. Merv captained NZ vs. South Africa in ‘53/54. In March 1956 he was Coach to the NZ team that won it’s first Test
after 26 unsuccessful years. All that is nothing compared to his contribution to the Parnell CC – for 60+ years as player, captain and then
Patron – Merv was superb. A brilliant coach and mentor to the young, we treasure our memories of Merv and take this opportunity to
celebrate his “Ton” with Vonnie, Adele and Greg and other members of the Wallace family.
