Word from the Director
May is here! How quickly it has come. Now
that spring is here and the weather is
getting warmer, we need to get children's
spare clothing updated. Please make sure
that your child has a full set of summer
clothes here at the center. Make sure your
child's spare clothes includes pants, shirt,
underwear, socks and if possible, shoes.
There seem to be more accidents when we
spend more time outdoors. Don’t forget to
label everything and if you take them home
please make sure to replace them. Also,
please make sure that your children are
wearing close toed shoes. Flip-flops and
open toed sandals are not permitted. This
help to prevent injuries.
Summer Camp 2017 is right around the
corner. The second half of the activities
and materials fee is due on June 1st.
Summer camp packets will be going out
soon. Everything needs to be turned in
before camp starts. You can drop off
forms and supplies in the office or to your
child’s classroom. Don't forget that during
the summer your child will need to have and
leave here at the center the following: towel
(regular size bath towel), swimsuit,
swimmers (for children still in diapers),
water shoes (not open toed), and
sunscreen (must have sunscreen form
attached). Water shoes can sometimes be
hard to find if you wait too long, but you
can usually get them at Target, Payless
Shoes, or Wal-Mart. There are still spots
available in some of the classroom, so if
you know of anyone looking for a great
camp for their kids, please refer them to
us. The School-Age classrooms have
limited spaces available.
Mother’s Day is on May 8th. We will be
having our annual Mother's Day Breakfast
on Friday, May 12th from 7:00-9:30 am. The
children are making lots of yummy
breakfast treats for our wonderful moms,
so make sure you get a bite to eat with
your child when dropping off.
Kindergarten registration was in April for
all Loudoun County public schools. This year
both Steuart Weller and Ashburn
Elementary will be full day. Little Learners will
service Steuart Weller(by LCPS buses) and
Ashburn Elementary (by Little Learners bus).
If your child is not going to be attending one
of these schools and you would like them to
continue here at Little Learners, you will need
to request special permission for them to
attend one of the above schools. If you need
more information or help, see someone in the
office and we will try to help you with the
process or provide you with any information
we have.
Teacher appreciation week is May 1st -5th. If
you get a chance, please thank your child’s
teacher for all their hard work. They do a
great job making sure that your children are in
a loving and safe environment.
Lifetouch portraits will be visiting LLA on Wed,
May 3 rd If your child does not attend LLA on
Wednesdays or there are siblings at home and
you would like to have their pictures taken too,
please feel free to bring them in between
10am-11am. We will work you in on a first come
first serve bases. We can do individual, siblings
or both.
The center will be closed for Memorial Day on
Monday, May 29th. Everyone please have a
safe and fun holiday weekend.
LLA would like to welcome Ms. Rasheda. She
will be our new SA2 teacher and we are so
happy to have her join our family. Ms.
Rasheda has been training for several weeks
and had the opportunity to work with Ms.
Hannah before she left. Please help us to give
her a warm welcome.
We have had a number of illnesses going
around the center recently. If your child is
diagnosed with anything, please let us know
ASAP. This gives us the opportunity to let
other parents know and be as proactive as
possible,
We hope that everyone is enjoying the new
Tadpole app. Please remember you need to
sign your child in/out every day. If your child is
going to be absent, please let us know. You
can do that directly on the app or you can
give us a call at the center.

Art Time
Happy May everyone! Hopefully we’ll have a lot
of nice weather this month so we will enjoy our
great outdoors. Don’t forget to bring your
child’s light jacket because sometimes it is
still chilly outside, and if the weather permits,
we might play outside in the early morning
before our breakfast at 9.
We will have our annual Mother’s Day
breakfast at school on Friday, May 12 between
7:00 and 9:30. This will be an opportunity for
our moms to enjoy breakfast with our children
in the classroom. It will also be a great time
to get to know other parents and to try some
of your child’s delicious cooking. We will also be
serving other food. So please mark this date
on your calendar and enjoy. Siblings are also
welcome to come.
We will learn about the letters Y and Z this
month. The rest of the weeks before our
summer camp begins we’ll just be review for all
the letters we’ve learned during the school
year. We will continue to learn the sounds,
recognize lower and upper case letters, and
write the letters. We are so proud of this class
and how some of them are getting more control
in using our art and writing materials, others
are already writing on their own. We will also
continue to learn our numbers and introduce
them to more math activities.
The themes for this month are Clocks, Money
and Measure, Celebrating our Mothers, Our Five
Senses, Weather, and for the last week we’ll do
The Circus. You can also bring all themerelated materials on our share days on
Tuesdays. For example, for Celebrating our
Mothers your child can bring a picture of their
mom. If you have any questions, please come
and talk to us.
Before we close we would like to say Happy
Birthday to Aadhya who will turn 4 on the 10th.
This is all for now, and enjoy spring.
Pre-K News ~ Ms. Preeti & Ms. Brittany
We made it to the last full month before our
Summer Camp begins! April was such a fun
month for Pre-K; planting seeds and
watching them grow, coloring eggs for
Easter, and getting plenty of fresh air during
outside time.
Math Time
This month we will be discussing and learning
all about: Clocks, Money and Measure,
Celebrating our Mothers, Our Five Senses,
Weather, and The Circus. We will be making
a special project for our Moms and we would
like to ask for a picture of your child w/mom
to share. Mother's Day breakfast will be
Friday, May 12th. Enjoy some breakfast with
your little ones to help celebrate your
Mother's Day! (P.S. if Dad drops off he can
have some too :)

Hi Parents! April Showers bring May flowers!
The year is flying by. A special Holiday is
approaching, Mother's Day! I'm wishing all you
beautiful mom's a blessed Mother's Day!
Also, happy Memorial Day!
The weather has been so nice! Hopefully it will
keep up. If children are wearing open toe
shoes, please remember to send in a pair of
sneakers as well. The mulch and rocks can be
harsh on the kid's feet.
Reminders: Parent's Night Out will be Friday,
May 19th. Public schools are closed for
Memorial Day which is Monday, May 29th.
Congratulations to Calvin on becoming this
month's Star! Calvin loves to build things
with the magnet set and play with his
friends. He's so active and is always a big
helper. Congratulations Calvin!
Please remember that Fridays are electronics
day, this is the only day that they are
allowed. The kids are welcome to bring in a
special toy to play with and share with friends
any day of the week. Please label your child's
toys. We have similar toys sometimes, so it's
hard to tell if it belongs to the center or child.
Also, I don't want the kids to mix their toys
up with each other.
Happy Birthday to Kaleb. He's turning the
big 7!
Have a blessed month!

Hello School Age 2 parents. I would like to
introduce myself as the new teacher in your
child's classroom. My name is Rasheda

Carson & the mother of 2 wonderful kids
Legacy, who is an upcoming Senior at JMU
and a son Jaleel, who is an upcoming
Sophomore at Millersville University where
he plays football.

when I became an empty nester, I decided
that I want to work with children because
it's something I'm passionate about and I
love kids! Some other things about me is
that I LOVE football..GO REDSKINS!!! I love
family time, going to the movies, cooking,
shopping and cheering on my son when he hits
the field. I truly look forward to working with
your children. I'm sure they'll miss Ms.
Hannah! If you have any questions please
don't hesitate to ask.
Please make sure to send a lightweight jacket
with your child each day, as the weather isn't
yet consistently warm and we want to be sure
your child is covered.
Mother's Day breakfast will be on Friday, May
12th. Please come out and enjoy this time
with your child before they go to school. The
center will be closed on Monday , May 29th
