The Tooting Neighbourhood Centre is a leading health and social care agency with a successful 30 year
track record of delivering quality services to vulnerable groups within the community. We currently
operate in a dozen boroughs across London— Wandsworth, Camden, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Croydon, Merton, Westminster, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham,
Richmond-Upon-Thames.
Our Services Include:






A Home & Respite Care Service, which provides personal care to the elderly in their homes 365
days a year.
A Luncheon Club for the elderly - which meets twice weekly, Mondays & Fridays from 11am - 2pm
A Day Centre - which meets twice weekly, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10.30am - 2.30pm
A Dementia Club - which meets Tuesdays from 3pm - 5.30pm
The Hope Project - which helps people to recover from mental illness.
A Spanish Language Club - which meets every Wednesday from 5-7pm

the community, regardless of their language, ethnic background, gender or anything else.

The Home & Respite Care Service
The Home Care Service offers a wide range of personal and practical care services to help people to continue to
live in the community and to maintain their own lifestyle with independence, safety and respect. We offer services
to the elderly, people with a learning or physical disabilities , the long term sick, and people who need assistance
due to mental illness.
We also offer Respite Care at Home services to main carers to give them a break from their caring responsibilities. These services are available between 7.30am to 10pm, 365 days a year, and we aim to:
• Offer a person centred, flexible, high quality personal and practical care service.
• Support individual people living in their own homes.
• Improve the quality of their lives.
• Reduce the stress they experience as a result of their disability, illness or age.
Our staff are highly trained, professional Care Workers who are experienced and committed to providing the very
best care, regardless of the background, culture, religion, or nationality of the service user.

£12 per hour for personal care services
Over night stays with clients (10pm—7am)

The Hope Project
The Hope Project was set up in 1994 as a drop in support service for people recovering from mild to severe mental
health problems, allied with physical & learning difficulties. The Hope project is the only provider of its kind in this
locality of South West London that addresses the cultural needs of black African, Caribbean and Asian people, by
providing support post discharge from mental health hospitals.
The project promotes and delivers a high quality service that focuses on keeping the service users well and thereby
helping to reduce re-admittance into psychiatric units. It also provides sensitive and appropriate services that meet
the needs of the service users, taking account of their particular abilities and challenges.
Anyone can drop in to the Project and begin to use its services, however, we encourage membership which costs
£48.50 per week and includes the following:

Access to the recreational activities including table tennis, pool, dominoes, chess, draughts, puzzles,
wordsearch etc.

Participation in art therapy sessions including painting, crafts, needlework, and other sessions

Participation in training sessions, including basic Information technology, computers and internet training,
e-mail systems, etc.

Peer Support Training

Jobhunting skills training - CV’s, application forms, interview technique

Participation in music, songwriting, story telling sessions

Free tea, coffee, & biscuits

Hot meals at subsidised rates – dietary implications taken into account

Luncheon Club & Day Centre
The Luncheon Club is for the elderly and runs on a Monday and Friday between 11am and 2pm. The cost is £9.50
per person per day. The Day Centre runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 10am - 2.30pm and costs £12 per day.
We provide a warm and friendly atmosphere in which people can relaxe, socialise with their friends, enjoy a
freshly cooked hot meal, and engage in a variety of recreational and educational activities. We pick up clients
from their homes, take them to the Centre, and bring them back home afterwards.

The Luncheon Club and Day Centre are both open to everyone in the community, regardless of age, nationality or
background.
Venue Hire
If you are looking for a modestly priced, convenient, and fully equipped venue to hold your meeting or event, then
look no further. We have a large hall that is suitable for all types of business and social events. It can seat 130 people theatre style, and up to 80 around tables. Call us today to find out more!
Dementia Club
The Dementia Club operates on a Tuesday afternoon from 3pm – 5.30pm. It is open to anyone who has
been diagnosed with dementia or who feel like they may have it. The Club is a place where people with
this condition, whether in the early stages of diagnosis, or the latter stages, can come to this support
group, make friends, socialise, and engage in a range of activities. We help people to face their condition and help them in the process of coming to terms with and dealing with the illness.
From time to time, we have a selection of professional Speakers who attend and make presentations to
the group on topics/issues of interest, and answer their questions.

DEMENTIA FACTS
Dementia is not a natural part of growing old. It is caused by diseases of the brain, the most common being Alzeimers. There are currently 800,000 people with dementia in the UK, and the number is rising.
There will be over a million people with dementia by 2021. Two thirds of people with dementia are women. One third of people over 95 have dementia. 60,000 deaths a year are directly attributable to dementia. Only 43% of people with dementia receive a diagnosis.
TNC Spanish Club

Spanish conversation groups and language tuition classes for beginners, intermediate,
and advanced levels. Come and practice your Spanish at the TNC Spanish Club every
Wednesday from 5 - 7pm. Refreshments provided. Cost: £5 per person.
