The Deputy Head (Pastoral) should be an adaptable and innovative leader.
He/She should be a good motivator, communicator and administrator and
should be capable of managing key aspects of an expanding and high
profile International School. He/She should be able to provide professional
leadership for their particular responsibility areas and should be viewed as
a genuine ambassador for the school.

Responsibilities:

Contributing to the implementation of the DCS Philosophy and
Objectives and College Values.
Maintaining and enhancing the quality of the Senior School’s
system of pastoral care, including leadership of the Heads of Year
Team.
Leading the Senior School in the absence of the Head of Senior
School.
Contributing to the effective performance of the Senior School
Leadership Team (SSLT)
Contributing to the strategic planning of the College.
Contributing to the SSLT’s role in monitoring and evaluating
learning and teaching throughout the School.
Contributing to the day-to-day running of the Senior School.
Monitoring students’ curriculum and social progress and
supporting Heads of Year and Form Tutors in the monitoring,
supporting, encouraging and disciplining of students, as
appropriate.
Development and management of target-setting strategies to
enhance student curriculum performance, in conjunction with
Heads of Departments.
Coordination and effective implementation of the PSHCE














Position Description
Reviewed:

Production and annual update of all pastoral policies and
documentation for the Senior School.
Oversight of the College’s professional review and development
system within the Senior School in conjunction with the Deputy
Head (Academic) and Head of Senior School.
Liaison with parents and outside agencies, as appropriate,
thereby developing positive relationships with the outside
community.
Liaison with the Head of Individual Needs and College Counsellor.
Cross-phase liaison with the Junior School and management of all
transition arrangements, in conjunction with the Head of Year 7.
Oversight of student committees, such as the Student Council.
Organising all aspects of parent consultations.
Participation in the orientation and induction process of new staff
by introducing pastoral policies and practices.
Contribution to the collection and dissemination of all information
relating to the Senior School for the purposes of marketing and
communication.
Oversight of the House system.
Oversight of Senior School co-curricular activities.
Oversight of educational trips including China Week.
Oversight of the selection of prefects.
Oversight of record keeping of student information including
registration.
