Summary Task 1..
Can you tell whether the summary sentence was written on the basis of Text 1 or 2 presented below?
Text 1
Low cost carriers cut costs several ways, which is reflected in their ticket prices. Some utilise their
aircraft to the maximum with fast turnaround times, make aircraft maintenance easy by not using
various types of aircraft like most traditional carriers do, only use secondary airports with reduced
landing fees and terminals that make faster boarding and deplaning possible, eliminate agent
commissions and ticket printing costs through online booking. Others use less personnel per flight
who work on much lower wages than those paid by the classic carriers and who clean the cabin
between flights instead of dedicated cleaning staff who board classic carriers.
Text 2
Ryan Air flies from Budapest to Rome once each day of the week. Average return fares range from
€104 to €127. Wizz Air also operates seven flights a week, one flight per day. An average return ticket,
including all taxes, costs €122. A classic airline like Alitalia flies six days a week, with no flights on
Saturday, and the average price of a return flight is €220.
Summary sentence: The price of airfare can vary greatly.

proceeded to the top of the middle panel and worked his way down. Victoria continued patiently and at
a steady pace. He was now checking the glareshield panel from left to right.
