Open Day/HSC Results ST MONICA’S PRIMARY SCHOOL 10 Daking Street, North Parramatta NSW 2151 Phone: 9630 3697 Fax: 9683 4984 Email: [email protected] High achievers return OUR Lady of Mercy College (OLMC) in Parramatta welcomed back their 2011 HSC high achievers at the first college assembly of 2012 to acknowledge and celebrate their excellent results. In the 2011 HSC, 61 girls achieved at least one Band 6. Three students, Lissandra Larobina, Emma Haig and Chelsea Barton, achieved Band 6 (or equivalent) in at least 10 units and were HSC all round achievers. Particularly significant was that all three girls were senior leaders at the college, and Lissandra and Emma were college head girl and assistant head girl. Each of these students were fully involved in the life of the college and their academic results have been outstanding. Emma Haig, with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 98.4 and former assistant head girl said to be successful it was a good idea to have a goal in mind. ‘‘The most important and fundamental key to success is having something to work for such as a particular ATAR score, or a personal goal,’’ she said. ‘‘This becomes your reason to try your absolute hardest to achieve it and will put you in good stead for the entire year.’’ The most important success story for the college’s 2011 HSC students is the large number of students who achieved in the top two bands in their subjects. The college girls have a 30 per cent greater chance of achieving in the top two bands than the state average. The state average includes all schools: Catholic, independent and government. On Thursday, March 8, the college will hold its Open Day for 2012. This is a great opportunity to see what education the college has to offer. Visitors can find details about the open day, or register for it, by visiting the college website: olmc.nsw.edu.au.
