1.G.2 Composing 2D Shapes Task Cards
DIRECTIONS:
*Print and cut out the task cards.
*Place the cards around the room or spread out
at desks with a bag of pattern blocks at each task
card.
*Assign students to work in pairs.
*Give each student a recording sheet. Assign
each pair of students a number- they will start at
that task card.
*Have them solve the shape problem at each task
card and record their work on their recording
sheet.
*Day 1- we did half of the task cards
*Day 2- we did the other half of the task cards
*Day 3- we shared and discussed the different
ways students solved the shape problems by
using the ‘Illuminations Shape Tool’ online.
