The LAW REVUE

The LAW REVUE
The journey begins!
It has been a month with many emotional and spiritual highs and lows. God is the same yesterday, today
and tomorrow! Normally at this time of the year, things on campus and in the office are starting to wind
down. However this time around we have been busy getting prepared for our mission trip. The details of
getting four people from Australia to East Asia has been overwhelming at times but most of it is done so we
are ready to go! Thank you for partnering with us through prayer and finances for this mission trip. Praise
God that He has provided all that we need and an abundance to enable us to go!
We will get back to Australia on the 15th of December and we will drive up to Sydney on the 16th for a
wedding on the 17th! So please pray for God to strengthen us as we go through a rollercoaster over the
next 6 weeks. If you would like to catch up with us before or after Christmas please let us know!
NOVEMBER
2011
Saying good bye is one of the hardest things to do at the end of a year
of ministry when missionaries return home after serving here. I (Jane)
have led the team this year with Jason, who is pictured in green, and
have learned and been challenged so much as a leader by working
alongside him. Jason, along with his wife Maria and daughter Hannah
have gone back to the US and they are soon expecting the arrival of
another daughter. The majority of the team of Americans that I have
been working with will also be heading home in early December after
they get back from being a part of a mission team to Lorne. Please
pray for them as they say goodbye, that God would bless them in their
last few weeks in Australia and also in the paths they are taking once they’re back in America.
Please also pray for the many students from the campuses I work on who are currently down in Lorne
reaching out to schoolies. For each of these students it is such a transformational time for them to be
challenged in sharing the Gospel in their everyday lives and seeing God meet them as they step out and
trust Him.

East Asia training
On November 11-13th we were able to get away and spend a weekend as a team discussing topics to help prepare us for ministry in East Asia. It was
great to be able to get to know the team a bit better through training times, meal times, board games and exploring the bushland around us.
One of the passages that we reflected on was 1 Corinthians 12:12-31. Due to our small team, each member has to fulfill a few different roles which will
be a challenge but please Pray for us that we will work well as a team and we would allow God to keep us united in His Spirit.
Some of the topics that we covered were “Perspectives on ministering cross culturally”, “Security issues” and “Sharing your personal testimony”. The
biggest challenge is to share Christ in a way that can be understood but not endanger the security of our team or the local team that is receiving us.
Pray for protection over what we do and say.
One of the biggest issues we will face will be culture shock. I (James) have been there before but I was fairly sheltered from their normal way of life.
Pray that the team will be able to recognise and process culture shock when we see it.
We have also included some additional prayer points that are specific to our team and we will send through some regular email updates while we are
over there, we greatly need and appreciate your prayers!
The Sword of the Spirit
One of my (Jane) highlights this semester has been training and developing a new intern missionary, Sarah. It is such a great joy of mine to journey alongside women and see the Lord grow them closer to Him, especially when they are so eager to learn like Sarah is. I meet with Sarah for a few hours each week to look into God’s Word and also to talk about how she is going both personally and in her ministry. This semester we have been looking closely at the overall message of the Bible and it has been so helpful for both of us to see God’s faithfulness in fulfilling the promises that He made to Abraham so many thousands of years ago. It was so much fun also seeing Sarah learn for the first time many aspects of Israel’s history and how it all fits together. It was a great refresher for me too and especially being reminded over and over again that God is always working to fulfill His plan and that He has met both sides of the covenant, His and ours, through sending Jesus.
Sarah has also really embraced many challenges since she started working with Student Life, like leading a number of Christianity Explained courses with women who are interested in finding out more about Jesus. I have loved seeing Sarah in
action leading these courses because only a few years ago she was sitting through one herself so she is able to relate so well to where these women are at. Sarah is also currently co-‐leading the mission team I mentioned above in Lorne, so please pray for wisdom, strength and energy for her and her co-‐leader, Jeremy. I am so excited to see what God will do in
and through Sarah both on this mission and also into next year. Please also pray for wisdom for me as I lead and develop the
