BC3 nets 1st region softball crown May 1, 2017 Butler County Community College’s softball team earned the first Region XX championship in the program’s history with a 4-2 victory over Anne Arundel (Md.) Community College at Seton Hill University on Sunday. Noel Pfabe led the Pioneer offense with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and one batted in. Kristen Karcher tripled and Saydie Moore doubled with both players driving in a run. Codi Reed earned the historic win by striking out four and walking one while allowing two runs over five innings. Jessi Reed was credited with the save after pitching the final two frames. The Pioneers (20-3) will now play in the district tournament this weekend on Long Island. BC3 earned the king’s seat in the region’s double-elimination tournament by defeating Westmoreland County Community College 11-0 and Anne Arundel 9-2 on Saturday. In the first win, Ashley Coon singled, tripled and drove home three runs, Nicole Houk scored three times and drove in two and Hayle Fox doubled in support of winning pitcher Codi Reed. Jessi Reed held Anne Arundel’s bats at bay in Saturday’s second game, striking out six and walking one in a complete game. Alexis Vogan tallied a double at the plate for the Pioneers. Codi Reed, Saydie Moore, Nicole Houk and Noel Pfabe were each named to the All-Region Tournament Team.
