Day 1 Saturday 4th March 2016
Meet your fellow travellers at Sydney International Airport for your flight departing Sydney for Rome. Your
Co.As.It. tour specialist will introduce you to everyone and take care of all particulars prior to departure.
Day 2 Sunday 5th March 2016 - ROME
Arrive in Rome in the morning where you will be met by our resident tour guide, Prof. Fausto Ferazzoli and
transferred directly to Ciampino, a central point just outside of Rome. It is here where your host families will
meet you and transfer you home. Your home stay will be your place of residence over the next 17 aweinspiring nights.
Day 3 Monday 6th March 2016 - ROME (B) (D)
This morning you are free to explore Rome before we head to an authentic Roman Trattoria for lunch and
at 3.00pm we meet our professional tour guide for a 3 hour walking tour of Rome. Marvel at some of
Rome’s best kept treasures including the Trevi fountain, the Palatine Hill, the Pantheon and the
Colosseum. Return around 7.00pm.
Day 4 Tuesday 7th March 2016 - OSTIA ANTICA 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B) (D)
Today you are immersed in the Italian language at a famous Italian School located in the heart of Rome.
After your Italian lesson in the morning, in the afternoon we travel to Ostia Antica, the former port city of
Rome which lies in the meadows between the Tiber River and the Tyrrhenian Seas. Together with our
dedicated tour guide, we explore the wonderfully preserved ruins that provide a glimpse into daily life and
take a step back in time to marvel at their preservation. Return around 7.00pm.
Day 5 Wednesday 8th March 2016 - ORVIETO-UMBRIA (B) (L) (D)
This morning we head by train to the majestic hillside town of Orvieto in Umbria. We will catch a cable car
into the heart of the city before being taken on a guided tour by a professional tour guide. Together, we
enjoy a typical Umbrian lunch, followed by an exquisite wine and olive oil tasting in the underground caves.
Return by train at around 6-7pm.
Day 6 Thursday 9th March 2016 - ROME 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B) (D)
After today’s Italian lesson we are taken on a guided tour of the cultural sights of Vatican city, visiting St.
Peter's Basilica, the restored Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museums and the private Vatican
Gardens.
Day 7 Friday 10th March 2016 - TRASTEVERE 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B)
This afternoon we head to Trastevere in ancient Rome where we learn what is required to create a culinary
masterpiece. Put on your apron, gather around the old farmhouse table, get wrist-deep in flour and enjoy la
cucina italiana. Return around 8.00pm.
Day 8 Saturday 11th March 2016 - FIRENZE (B) (D)
This morning we head by train to Firenze - the birthplace of Dante and Michelangelo, home of the Medici
and cradle of the Italian Renaissance. This afternoon we have an unforgettable 2 hour walking tour of the
city including a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia, home of the statue of David. Tonight we assure to be a
culinary delight, with an amazing Tuscan Cooking class followed by a dinner to remember. Overnight in
Firenze.
Day 9 Sunday 12th March 2016 - FIRENZE (B)
Today we discover the true beauty of Firenze. Why not climb the 463 steps of the famous Basilica? Or visit
the Baptistery and admire its exterior Gates of Paradise, an early 15th-century rendering of some of the
Bible’s most dramatic scenes. Explore the Museo Archeologico with its incredible masterpieces including
the famous Chimera of Arezzo, a lifelike bronze lion from the 5th century B.C. Return home around 7pm.
Day 10 Monday 13th March 2016 - ROME 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B) (D)
After today’s Italian lesson we embark upon a pleasant refuge and visit Villa Borghese, one of the largest
public gardens of Rome. Along the way we visit Piazza del Popolo where churches, fountains, monuments,
and marble memoirs of historic events in Rome both ancient and modern tastefully embellish the square.
Day 11 Tuesday 14th March 2016 - TIVOLI 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B) (D)
This afternoon we travel by coach for a relaxed afternoon of sightseeing in Tivoli. Kick back and revel in the
stunning scenery of Hadrian’s Villa, built as a private summer retreat between AD 118 and 134 including a
vast open-air museum of the finest architecture of the Roman world. Return around 6 – 7 pm
Day 12 Wednesday 15th March 2016 - VITERBO (B) (D)
Today we take a trip to Viterbo, a medieval city north of Rome. We walk the streets of the culturally rich
Etruscan city, once part of the Papal States in 13th Century. Explore the natural beauty of its surrounds
such as the Terme dei Papi(entrance included), a 21,000-square-foot outdoor limestone pool and enjoy
some delicious local cuisine.
Day 13 Thursday 16th March 2016 – ROME 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B) (D)
After today’s lesson we urge you to expose the Italian “within” and explore the local area testing what you
have learnt in class. Alternatively, why not spend the afternoon relaxing at home or simply catch up on
some of your Italian homework?
Day 14 Friday 17th March 2016 – CIAMPINO 3 hr Italian lessons 10.00am – 1.00pm (B)
After today’s lesson you are free to explore the best of local Italian Shopping.
Day 15 Saturday 18th March 2016 FREE DAY (B)
Today you are free to take in as much of what you have learnt and go free and explore more of what Rome
has to offer.
Day 16 Sunday 19th March 2016 - CASTELLI ROMANI / ARICCIA (B) (D)
Today we explore Albano and Castel Gandolfo, one of the ancient Castelli Romani. Marvel at the historic
towns dotted around the wooded Alban Hills dominated by grand villas. Try your luck hiring bikes and enjoy
a romantic cycle around the lake area or enjoy a guided walk to nearby restaurants and take in the amazing
views over Albano, the papal residence and surrounding hills. Experience this amazing sight while relaxing
on deckchairs by the lake. Tonight we travel to Ariccia for typical dinner of porchetta served on communal
tables piled high with other local specialties like pecorino romano, olive, and salumi.
Day 17 Monday 20th March 2016 - TESTACCIO (B) (D)
Today we are in for another cultural and culinary delight, a trip to the original foodie neighbourhood of
Rome, Testaccio. Our guided 4-hour Walking Food Tour lets you experience Rome like a local, in an actual
neighbourhood where people live, eat and shop. Along the way, your guide will entertain and educate you
with stories and insights into Rome’s culture and history.
Day 18 Tuesday 21st March 2016 - ROME (B) (D)
This morning we enjoy a leisurely passeggiata to an authentic gelato-making laboratorio in Ciampino. Put
on your lab coat and marvel at the vibrant flavours of Italian gelato – fortified personification of the resident
gelatiere’s explosive personality. Impress your friends back home by showing off your newfound
knowledge. This afternoon we take a walk through what is known as a living museum, the Jewish Ghetto of
Rome. One of the most ancient and truly “Roman” neighbourhoods.
Day 19 Wednesday 22nd March 2016 FRASCATI (B) (D)
This morning we suggest you interrogate your home stay for further answers to those provocative grammar
elements covered throughout your lessons or treat yourself to some of the local treasures. The day is
yours. In the evening we head into Frascati to celebrate our Italian adventure with our homestay families.
Prepare yourself for our famous “tour trivia” in a night never to be forgotten.
Day 20 Thursday 23rd March ROME (B)
This morning you will say goodbye to your host family and be transferred to Rome airport for your flight
back to Sydney.
Day 21 Friday 24th March SYDNEY
Arrive back in Sydney.
