Call to order by Matt Fisher at 6:33pm
Attendance Roster was distributed to be signed by all Board Members
Approval of November Meeting minutes-copies were distributed for those that needed to review. An
edit was made to correct spelling of member Shivon Alphonso’s name. The minutes approval was
motioned by Maria Cruz, seconded by Sherri Boam and unanimously approved.
Principals ReportCurrent enrollment 1198 students
Calendar project by Cornerstone Hospice.
o 2013 calendar artwork was done for each month by SBE students
o A news release off of the county website was published
Art Fair is scheduled for Dec 5 from 6-8pm with the Little Gems performing
Autism Walk was Nov 10th at Cranes Roost. ESE hosted for SBE at the fundraiser
NEHS Induction Ceremony for 4th and 5th grade students occurred. This is a great way to
start student pride in an academic rich environment
Christmas Holiday Break is scheduled for Decemeber 22 through January 4
Pilot Florida Writes Exam Test will be December 4 and 5. During this time it will be a
quiet campus with no volunteers or parents allowed at the school due to testing
SIP/Title 1
o Review of all of the plans was completed
o Report out was very complimentary to SBE.
o Kudos to the teachers for their hard work
Peer Observations help teachers learn from each other. 30 minute shadows with
Instructional Teachers in their classroom
Title 1 funds are being spent
SBE is the largest school in the district with over 200 active ESOL students which is also
the highest percentage in the district.
o Rigor around paperwork, testing and compliance and adequately documenting
all
o Helping teachers with their ELL student populations is also a priority and
challenge
o SBE was able to gain additional funding to assist with all of the ESOL students
o SBE hired someone that is multi-lingual to work in a role focused on ELL who
also has a background doing this type of work in Virginia.
January 15, 16 and 17 there will be early release for all students at 2pm
