One-sentence description
Through a volunteer-led barn-raising approach, we will replace waiting
room viewing chairs in our arena, and hold a hockey tournament to
Adventure in Understanding will host a 100KM canoe-based six day/five
night co-ed program for First Nation and non-native youth 16 to 18 years
of age.
This project will help to build vibrant and healthy neighbourhoods through
the creation and stewardship of diverse pollinator gardens.
Our Gender Journey Program would like to present a series of educational
Canada 150 Celebration of Gender Diversity events including music, dance and spoken work that represents the
LGBTQ community, as part of a broader Canada Day 150 celebration.

Peterborough Celebrates Canada's 150th
Peterborough County 150 - A Passport to
Celebrations!
One of the largest events promoting the positive and lasting impact of
cultural diversity in our community through a celebration of life's simple
pleasures including food, music, art and dance.
Local youth will respond to the Truth & Reconciliation Report by taking
action to decolonize, build relationships with First Nations & Mother Earth
through an interactive workshop series.
This event is a concert which celebrates the music of Canadian Women
singers & songwriters and involves many local musicians & local groups
that support women within our Community.
The PSO and Canada Canoe Museum collaborate to commission a new
orchestral work by canadian composer Christine Donkin based on the
legend "Chasse-galerie"
"Come Together" will work to bring marginalized youth living in rural areas
together to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday through inclusive events and
activities
Circles of Care is a staff and volunteer run program that will expand
relationships built at the Warming Room by establishing community based
wraparound support with individuals who are episodically and chronically
homeless, and whom have not been able to successfully engage with
existing service providers in Peterborough.
"Made in Canada... Really!" will be an exhibition, featuring Peterboroughmade objects from the Peterborough Museum & Archives collection, in
celebration of Canada's 150th and the PMA's 50th anniversaries.

The Works will issue a national call for 3 diverse artists to produce distinct
participatory artworks that actively build community and tell the complex
story of Canada’s people and places and showcased to the estimated 300
000 visitors of the Works 2017 Festival.
Through an interactive journey through lesser-known events and policies in
Canada's history, participants will learn about both the historical depth and
continuing effects of race issues.

Inspired by Canada’s 150th celebrations and the themes of belonging,
inclusion, connection and reconciliation, the Town of Canmore’s Arts and
Events Department, in partnership with the Planning and Community Social
Development departments, will create 4 community murals with a Lead
Artist and with inspired youth from Banff, Canmore, Exshaw and Morley.
Stoney Stories, Benches and Hikes/Walks
Working with Elders, students and local artists to produce story boards to
place with log benches at locations of Stoney cultural significance within
the Bow and Ghost Valleys and on Reserve with organized multigenerational hikes/walks to these in 2017 incorporating discussions of the
many multi-cultural contributions to our area.

A Indigenous community-based project to grow and expand seed stock of
heritage flint corn, while engaging and teaching about traditional food

Our goal is to work with at risk youth to develop their civic identity, civic
competencies & willingness to act by directly engaging youth in
community action through 2017.
The purpose of this project is to create a percussion band for kids to
explore music from different backgrounds, along with a performance
during Canada 150.
