Community
Celebrates
Disney
Springs
It’s official: Downtown Disney is now
Disney Springs. This name change is an
important milestone as Disney Springs
continues to evolve, its growth creating a
positive economic impact on Central Florida.
“By the time Town Center is complete, this
expansion will have provided an estimated
1,200 construction jobs and added more
than 4,000 operational roles, while providing
new business opportunities and generating
significant tax revenue for our community,” said George
A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort.
Drawing inspiration from Florida’s waterfront towns and natural beauty, Disney Springs treats
guests to a one-of-a-kind Disney experience amid beautiful open-air promenades, flowing springs
and waterfront charm. The area will include four interconnected neighborhoods: The Landing,
Marketplace, West Side and Town Center. When Disney Springs is fully completed in 2016, the
number of shopping, dining and entertainment venues will increase from the current 75 to more
than 150.
New to Disney Springs is The Landing, home to unique shopping locations and memorable dining
experiences. Coming soon, Town Center will be a diverse mix of retailers – including premium,
affordable luxury and fast fashion options – and unique restaurants.

Spotlight on Safety
This past fall we offered Safety Refresher Training to more
than 250 Motor Coach Operators and other operations
team members at the Holden Heights Community
Center in downtown Orlando. Topics included fatigue
prevention, fixed-object avoidance, logbook compliance,
wheelchair securement and safety awareness. Additional
programs are planned to accommodate those who were
unable to attend these sessions.
KUDOS
Client Service Manager Joe Downey sends KUDOS
to Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur Luis Paulino:
“Luis has continuously impressed me with the way
he runs his business and represents Mears. He has
one of the cleanest vehicles in the fleet, both inside
and out; I particularly appreciate how Luis keeps
all of the door sill plates immaculate, which is often
overlooked. I have seen him interact with guests
on several occasions; he treats everyone like a VIP
regardless of the length of the run or the resort he
is picking up at. I hope that even more guests and
clients get the opportunity to enjoy Luis’ service as
he expands his business.”
Core Values: Respect & Enthusiasm
Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur Ricardo Dusson
sends KUDOS to Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur
Glen Williams:
“This email is long overdue, but I would like to
say a big thank you for the mentor program. I
feel fortunate for having Mr. Glen Williams as my
mentor. Since day one I felt his willingness to help
me grow in my new career. He made himself
available every time I had questions and concerns,
which happened a lot and still does. Not only did
he answer and return my phone calls, but he also
called and texted me on a weekly basis to check in,
as he continues to do. I can sense his sincerity and
desire to help.
Hello! Florida Production Accountant Demetria
Rogers sends KUDOS to Helpdesk Technician
Chris Denny:
“The Accounting Department wanted to bring some
recognition to Chris. He was extremely helpful and it
was the best I/T experience I have had. He deserves
some kudos. Thank you for helping.”
Core Values: Enthusiasm & Efficiency
Safety Investigator Russ Mercer sends KUDOS
to Trolley Drivers Jose Gozales and Luis Gomez
for taking all the right steps to help bring a thief
to justice.
“Jose pulled up in trolley #3921 at stop #21
northbound, in front of the Hyatt Regency Hotel
at the Orange County Convention Center. As
passengers were about to board, a man grabbed
an incoming passenger’s bag and bolted across
International Dr. Jose observed the event and
immediately contacted the trolley supervisor, Danny
Niles. Mr. Niles contacted 911, which dispatched
the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Three deputies
responded immediately, gathered information, then
requested a helicopter for aerial support.
“At the beginning there were moments that I
thought about giving up, but Glen was there to
express the patience necessary for this profession.
Now, I am really happy with my work results, and
part of this is thanks to him. I hope that Mears is
aware of what a great asset Mr. Glen Williams is.”
“In trolley #3919, Luis had been monitoring the
radio traffic and recognized that he had the suspect
on his trolley, travelling north toward stop #11, so
he notified the supervisor. The trolley supervisor
informed the Sheriff’s Office, who then dispatched
several patrol cars and the helicopter to the area
near the trolley. Three sheriffs’ vehicles stopped the
trolley, with the helicopter standing by to provide
illumination. The deputies directed all passengers
to exit. The last person off of the trolley was the
suspect, who was taken into custody.”

Core Values: Safety & Integrity
MDS Employment Specialist Joy Fleming sends
KUDOS to Human Resources Manager Rhonda
Gregoire, Human Resources Assistant Managers
Lydia Cortez and Jim Ungvary and Human
Resources Administrative Assistant Cathy Larson:
“The HR Team has always done a great job in our
wellness programs and keeping us advised on
health-related issues. At this year’s Wellness Fair,
the team went ‘above and beyond’ to make a great
day for many of our employees and independent
contractors. I was very impressed by the one-stopshop that included all the necessary elements
and information, from health insurance, flu shots,
acupuncture, biometrics, food and blended drink
samples, chair massages and so much more. It
was very organized and all the HR staff welcomed
everyone and assisted with a smile. Thank you
for all you do in keeping us on the right track
to good health. Your dedication and efforts are
appreciated!”
Core Values: Safety & Enthusiasm
Motor Coach Operator Greg Lane sends KUDOS to

For the first time ever, we brought the mammogram
machine to you! Women’s Mobile Medical Services
operates the only mobile digital mammography service
that travels throughout Central Florida. They provide
mobile services to the community in order to alleviate
the long wait times for screening exams. Rather than
taking time off to travel to a diagnostic center or
hospital facility, 15 Mears Destination Services, City
Cab and Hello! employees enjoyed the convenience
of stopping by M8 for a 15-minute appointment in
October. Afterwards, they received a flower, breast
cancer awareness pin and goodie bag. Already we have
had requests to repeat this service, so stay tuned to
learn when Women’s Mobile Medical Services will be
back on property.

“Our trip to Orlando was wonderful and it all started out
with a great greeting at the airport. Our driver was Luxury
Vehicle Chauffeur Gregory Charles. He was very friendly,
helped with our bags and opened our doors. On our ride
he told us about things to do locally besides the theme
parks. When we passed by certain interesting sites he
would let us know. I was very happy to have him as our
driver. He made us very comfortable. I would definitely
use Mears luxury transportation again because of this great
experience and service.”

“I brought my family to Disney and took Mears from the
train station in Orlando to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur Walter Hernandez was great. I
actually asked if he could schedule himself for our return
trip a week later and he did. He couldn’t have been more
helpful. He was extremely courteous and made our trip
seamless. I would not hesitate to use Mears and Walter in
the future.”

“I normally do not post or rate anyone but today I decided
to do so. I was recently driven by Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur
Emma Vasquez. I have been picked up plenty of times
during my vacations and you don’t always get lucky with a
pleasant and respectable driver. Her driving was on point
- not too fast and not too slow. Above all it was a pleasure
meeting her. There should be more smiling faces like hers.
It means a lot to the passenger whether it’s the beginning
of the vacation or the end. If it starts or ends well with a
smiling face and pleasant personality it is 150% enjoyable.
“Thank you for sending her my way today. It was a rough few
days and it was a pleasure having her drive me to the airport.”

“I wanted to tell you about the wonderful experience we
had with Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur Glover Melvin.
“Our flight was delayed at the airport and I was traveling
with my one-year-old son. Glover stayed there and waited
with us and helped me with my bags. He made my trip
to my hotel so much easier. He was kind and courteous
and extremely helpful. I’m in the service business myself,
and I know how important it is to find people who provide
positive experiences for their customers.”

“We are writing to commend Motor Coach Operator
Deron Dillon for a job very well done. We stayed at
the Hilton Bonnet Creek Resort and we used the motor
coaches provided by Mears for rides to the Magic
Kingdom. Deron was our driver on several of these
trips and he gave us exemplary service. He was polite,
courteous, professional, and extremely helpful on each trip.
He was informative about the route and explained carefully
how to find the correct bus location for return trips. We
were travelling with a small child, and he cheerfully and
efficiently helped us with the stroller so we could tend to
the child. We want you to know that he is a wonderful
employee and we urge you to encourage his attitude and
service; it really stands out to your customers.”

“It is not often I have the distinct pleasure to write to
compliment an organization on its exemplary staff. I
recently returned from Dallas after attending the Nerium
International Conference. The days were long, and being
met with smiles and support by your team as we began
and ended each day was appreciated.
“Travis-Lee, in particular, stood out among your staff. He
greeted us with a welcoming smile, southern hospitality
and good humor as we left the conference. Dog tired, we
stopped and engaged for a moment’s conversation and felt
so well taken care of and supported that by the time we
were ready to board our various shuttles, we had regained
a bounce in our steps. He made us want to return to Dallas
to explore more of what makes your city so special. Watch
out that no one lures Travis-Lee away, as he would be an
asset to any organization.”

very courteous, professional, safe drivers. It meant a lot
to me since I don’t normally see that kind of service. I
don’t remember the name of our first driver but our driver
from the resort to the airport was Shuttle Van Driver

EXAMPLES OF
EXCELLENCE
“I had the pleasure of working
with an exceptional teammate!
Motor Coach Operator Joel
Mollay was sent to transport
our Disney Cruise Line guests
at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Lodge. He started off with an
amazing personalized greeting
for two of our guests who needed a wheelchair lift.
As soon as he came into contact with them he made
a point to introduce himself, shake their hands,
and gather each of their first names. He was polite,
cordial, and professional throughout the entire
process. He was certain to explain the process as
he went along, to ensure that they both felt secure
and comfortable. I was impressed when he took a
moment to also explain the process of unloading the
motor coach so they would know what to expect
once they arrived at the port. I felt the verbiage he
used was pure perfection since it made the couple
feel like they were receiving special treatment versus
making it sound like the process of unloading a
wheelchair was just another tedious task. Once
the lift was completed, he continued to provide
the rest of our guests with the same quality service.
After having the opportunity of seeing the pleasant
interaction between Joel and each of our guests, I
also had the pleasure of hearing the guests cheer
along with him as the motor coach pulled away!
“He’s really a bundle of fun and truly understands
the key to providing quality service the way Disney
Cruise Line expects it! I’m sure your team takes
great pride in his efforts. Please be sure to give him a
‘high-five’ on our behalf!
“I wanted to express the exemplary service rendered by
Motor Coach Operator Tamara Brown. My family and I
were taking a cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines and used
the bus shuttle to the port and back to the airport. We
had the pleasure of riding with Tamara both times. She
was very professional and made sure our safety was her
first concern. She also expressed the importance of the
documents we needed to board the cruise ship and plane.
One passenger actually returned to the airport terminal [to
retrieve documents] because she heard that announcement
from Tamara.
“Motor Coach Operator Randy Porter is by far the best
driver I have had the pleasure of meeting. His driving
was safe and effective, but his entertainment skills and
knowledge of Disney was just out of this world. I could
just drive around with him for miles and miles. He is a
complete gentleman.”
“Tamara gave a little history about Orlando as well. I am
sending this email because of her dedication to outstanding
service. Please express to her our sincere appreciation.”
Core Values: Safety, Enthusiasm & Respect
Chip Springer, Vice President Motor Coach Operations, adds:
“Tamara has driven for Mears for many years and takes
her job seriously and, as you experienced, is genuinely
motivated to provide her guests with a safe comfortable
ride and exceed any expectation.”
“We used many of your cabs
whilst in Florida. Overall, you
have very friendly staff. I would
like to mention Motor Coach
Operator David Crawford who
took us to Busch Gardens.
When we came back to
SeaWorld it was pouring rain
and dark. We were disorganized and hadn’t
thought about how to get to our hotel afterwards.
We couldn’t get a signal on our phone so David
loaned us his phone. He stayed until the taxi came
- when he didn’t have to. He was an exceptionally
nice man, a credit to you and himself.”
“We had Shuttle Van Driver Cader Hassenjee on a hotel
to airport trip. He was amazing and so friendly! The entire
van learned so many interesting facts about Disney and
Orlando from him. The time flew by too quickly! Excellent
job, Cader!”

working at the Bus Loop. A guest needed help and your
two Team Members took quick action that was very much

stairway to get security assistance and the other dashed
through the Bus Loop to get the Transportation Supervisor
on duty. Because of your employees’ quick reactions to
assist someone in need, we were able to respond to the
person with incredible speed.
“After we had our Universal Orlando folks on scene,
your team without hesitation assisted with crowd control
and selflessly cleared the Bus Loop so we could get

“We had a great experience with Yellow Cab Driver Azher
‘Koresh’ Qureshi. We had used another taxi service to get
to downtown Orlando from the airport to rent a vehicle
(we believe the driver went past our destination for more
money – acted like he knew where we were going but
didn’t). We were not happy with that company at all.
Koresh picked us up in downtown Orlando and took us to
another rental company close to the Orlando Airport. He
went out of his way to help us this day and we wanted him
to be recognized for his efforts. This very nice man helped
us out in a frustrating situation. We thank you for having
a great customer relations oriented driver working for
your team.”

Account Manager Jordan Bickel and Creative Services
Development Manager Aaron Tharp:
“I cannot say enough good things about the team that
helped me put on the Rat Pack inspired corporate event for
more than 300 of my company’s VIPs!
“During the planning process, Alison and Jordan were on
top of all of my emails, inquiries and design edits. When we
finally met at the venue, they were there, making sure I was
comfortable with all decisions and direction.
“Aaron, the designer, caught my theme vision exactly. No
matter the curveballs I threw, each challenge (including
installing a 72” x 27” neon sign on our canopied entry!)
was met with enthusiasm! From the red carpet with velvet
rope and stanchions, to the neon canopied entry flanked
by uplit deco palm trees, the draped interior and retro
furnishings - the design in reality was exactly what I had
envisioned. It was all so amazing.
“The talent - Marilyn Monroe, the 2 show girls and 2 cigar
girls - were wonderful, working the crowd, adding to the
’60s lounge atmosphere.
“Alison, Jordan and Aaron were my dream team, and I look
forward to planning next year’s event (Motown themed)

“I would like express my thanks
to Airport Office Lead Aly
Batista. We arrived to find that
our hotel had been evacuated
because of a fire. Our travel
rep was no help and told us to
find another hotel ourselves.
Shocked and stressed, and
this being our first visit to Florida, we had no clue
where to start. Aly was magnificent. She made calls
on our behalf and eventually found us somewhere
to stay. I do not know what we would have done
without her. I think we were so stunned by events
that we left without thanking her properly. She
was much more help than our travel rep and I
would like to thank Aly for the excellent customer
service she provided. All of the Mears staff that we
encountered during our trip were pleasant, friendly
and helpful, but none more than Aly and, once
again, many thanks.”

Transportation Sales and Operations Manager Arlyn
Moore and Luxury Vehicle Chauffeur Chris Peters:
“I used your company from the airport and, as it was
a special occasion for my family, I decided to upgrade
to your executive shuttle. In my role in the Scottish
Government I regularly use similar services across the
globe in my day-to-day business activities and have always
found them to be efficient, if rather impersonal. Given my
experience with your firm, I felt that some feedback was
called for.
“Thank you for taking such great care of me. Appreciate
you! Also, wanted to let you know that Chris is amazing!
Thanks again.”
“Our connecting flight from New York was delayed by
a number of hours. When I called the 24-hour helpline
number to request a change to the agreed pick-up time
I was very pleasantly surprised when Sandra, the very
efficient call handler, assured me that Mears routinely
monitors flights and that regardless of what happened
someone would be waiting to collect my family and me
at the airport.
“On arrival in Orlando some four hours later than
expected, we were delighted to spot a smartly dressed
gentleman standing with a card bearing our name. From
his first greeting, Dickens was both a credit to himself
and a fantastic ambassador for Mears Transportation. He
insisted on dealing with our luggage, and was helpful
and courteous throughout our journey to our hotel. I
particularly valued his local knowledge on places to go
with two young adults and suggestion of things to do other
than the theme parks. In fact I was so taken with the high
quality of service provided that I booked a return airport
trip for my children despite the fact that I had a hired car
available by that time.
