Key questions for this area of learning: How old is the water that you drink? Where does water come from? Who were the Anglo Saxons? What have the Anglo Saxons done for us? Science: Why does the mirror steam up after a shower? How does it rain? These are a couple of questions we will find out when we look at the Water Cycle. Key Vocabulary Water Cycle Precipitation Physical Education: We may be the reason for bad weather. We will be performing a rain dance in PE. History: This half term, we will be studying the Anglo Saxons. We will looking at the impact they have made on life today as well as finding out about Sutton Hoo. Music: The children will be creating their own compositions which have a water theme to them. Computing: ‘Scratch’ ‘Sprite’ and ‘Command Block’ are some of the terminology that we will be using during our coding work this half term. Opportunities for English: ‘We are following the Leader, Leader, Leader’ when we look at the Pied Piper of Hamlin. We will also be creating an information text about the Water Cycle and how it all works. Religious Education: This half term the children we learning about Judaism and will be looking at Passover. Design and technology: We will be using a variety of materials in order to create a model river. Condensation Evaporation Anglo Saxons Runes Sutton Hoo Bayeux Tapestry Opportunities for Maths: Art: We will be creating some Anglo Saxon pictures using Runes. French: In French this half term we will be saying colours that are useful for describing hair and eyes. We are pretty certain that we are going to get a little bit of rainfall and it may get a little bit chilly over the next half term. We will use this to create rainfall and temperature graphs. We will using shape knowledge to create nets of Anglo Saxon buildings. Visits, visitors or key events Home learning ideas/places to visit As part of the school linking project we will be visiting the Madlho Youth Centre as well as the Oldham Colosseum. The children have their own Scratch accounts, so it will be very interesting to see what creations they can make at home.
