Burkardt’s “Pink Truck” raises cancer
awareness, funds
Dear Friends,
It’s hard to believe that summer is in full
swing. Longer days, plenty of sunshine and
fun summer activities are a welcome change
of pace.
As a locally owned, second generation
family business, Burkardt’s L.P. Gas would like
to thank you for your loyalty and support.
Burkardt’s recently celebrated its 33rd year
in business! We couldn’t have done it without
you! We are grateful for each and every one
of you, and our dedicated employees, for
helping achieve this milestone.

We are “on a roll” when it comes to raising awareness, and raising funds for the
American Cancer Society Relay For Life, a life-changing experience that gives
people in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people
who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the
disease. Each year, more than four million people in over 20 countries take part in
this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives
from cancer.
Burkardt’s L.P. Gas decided to paint its new 3,200-gallon propane delivery truck pink
to focus on all types of cancer.
The idea to support this worthy cause came while attending a high school football
game in Polo, Ill., where cancer survivors were recognized and honored. “That’s
when we realized just how many people are affected by some type of cancer. We
felt compelled to do what we could to help and are pleased with the awareness
that the pink truck has raised for the cause since it rolled out last fall.” said Mike
Faivre, general manager. One penny for each gallon of propane delivered is
donated to Relay For Life. In the last year, the campaign has raised more than
$8,100 for cancer research.

Manager’s Message “Go Green”
Good news! For the first time in over a
decade we will be delivering propane for
less than a dollar. Our “Summer Fill” price
for home heating will be $.99/ gal this

summer. Our Fixed Price Cap for the
General Manager
winter will be $1.19 (plus tax). This is
lower than we’ve seen in quite some time. Shale gas production
of propane has increased dramatically over the past several
years boosting inventory levels to record highs. Providing we
don’t have any distribution issues, or significant export increases
this year, we should see propane prices remain very economical.
More good news! Burkardt’s L.P. Gas has upgraded its website to
allow customers to access their account online. Hopefully by
the time you read this the system will be up and running.
We are also encouraging our customers to “go green.” You
may now elect to receive your monthly statement by email.

Also, as a safety reminder, out-of-gas situations are always
undesirable and should be avoided. All “Will Call”
customers are required to regularly check their
propane tank gauge and call us when it reads
between 25-30 percent. This ensures that your delivery
can be made in a timely manner to avoid an undesirable
out-of-gas situation. Safety codes require that Burkardt’s L.P. Gas
performs a pressure test for all out-of-gas situations before
service can be restored. Because this is time consuming and
costly, an Out-of-Gas delivery fee up to $100 may be incurred.
We currently have Kidde Nighthawk combination gas and
carbon monoxide detectors for sale. These are great units
that constantly read and display levels of both types of gases
rather than just sound an alarm. Give us a call or stop by to
purchase one of these quality detectors.
Budget Plan and
other Convenient
Payment Options
If more control over your energy spending
sounds appealing, it’s time to enroll in our
Budget Plan. Burkardt’s L.P. Gas calculates your
annual propane usage and spreads the amount
into 12 lower, equal monthly payments. Budget
payments are interest free as long as they are
made on time. Please contact Paula at Burkardt’s

helpful payment option.
Don’t worry about checking the tank
gauge, or out-of-gas situations with
our Keep Full delivery service
Enroll in our Keep Full delivery service and let
Burkardt’s L.P. Gas take care of your delivery. We’ll
monitor your tank and schedule your deliveries
as-needed as part of our routed delivery service.
No more checking the tank gauge and calling for
a delivery. We’ve got you covered!
(C.O.D. deliveries are not eligible for the Keep Full program)

Hefty rebates are available from the Illinois Propane Education & Research Council and the Illinois
Propane Gas Association that help with the safe installation of new energy-efficient propane appliances.

Regulator Program Underway
Your safety is always our first priority at Burkardt’s L.P. Gas. That’s
why we’ve implemented a regulator replacement program to ensure
your propane system operates safely and efficiently.
You might see a Burkardt’s L.P. Gas
technician inspecting your regulator while
we’re out making deliveries. We will inspect
your propane regulator for age, location,
and proper operation. The service is free
of charge. However, if it is determined that
parts are necessary to maintain the safety
of your system, there may be a charge
for the cost of the part.
We take your safety seriously. If you think
your regulator was installed prior to 1995,
please call or send us an email. And don’t
hesitate to call any time you have a question
or concern! We’re always happy to help.

Focus on Safety
Carbon monoxide is a serious
safety issue
Even though it’s summer now, it is
important to understand that carbon
monoxide (CO) poisoning is a serious
condition that can be prevented when
proper safety precautions are taken.
Carbon monoxide poisoning most
commonly occurs during the heating
season when homes are sealed up tightly
from the cold. Review these important
safety tips now before the arrival of
winter in order to take preventive
measures to avoid an undesirable
CO situation in your home.
For your safety, make sure that your
CO-emitting household appliances
including gas-burning furnaces, water
heaters, stoves, fireplaces, logs and
other propane appliances, are vented
properly and manufactured to operate
using propane.
Install CO and propane detectors
before the heating season begins.

model constantly monitors the air in the
room and displays the levels on a
