800 Millions Tons!
Who or what on Earth could possibly eat up to 800
million tons of food a year?
Spiders…that’s who.
Scientists have estimated that there are 25 million
tons of spiders on Earth and between them they eat
an estimated 800 million tons of food a year.
Spiders are found on every continent, except for
Antarctica, and are carnivores. Almost all of them are
completely harmless to humans although
arachnophobia is one of the most common phobias.
So is it time we changed our view of these hungry,
hard-working arachnids?

Marvellous Medicine
As of 21:00 on Monday 3rd April 2017 the worlds population was
exactly 7,495,285, 248 and growing at approximately 1 person
per second! The Earth’s population has trebled in the last 100
years and growth doesn’t appear to be slowing down.
One of the main reasons for this rapid growth is the
advancement in medical treatment, technology and science.
Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin is estimated to have
saved the lives of over 200 million people and Edward Jenner’s
smallpox vaccine has prevented over 500 million people.
This week it’s being announced that the first head transplant will
be carried out later this year! Could this controversial
experimental procedure be the start of the next medical
revolution? Is it possible? Should it even be happening? What do
you think?
