Scientists have estimated that there are 25 million tons of spiders on Earth and between them they eat an estimated 800 million tons of food a year. Spiders are found on every continent, except for Antarctica, and are carnivores. Almost all of them are completely harmless to humans although arachnophobia is one of the most common phobias.
