GENWORTH RECEIVES 2016 GOVERNOR’S VOLUNTEERISM
AND COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
United Way corporate partner recognized for over 22,000 hours of volunteerism
and more than $2 million dollars in donations to region
Richmond, VA [4/19/16] – Last night, United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg
Corporate Partner Genworth Financial received the prestigious 2016 Governor’s Volunteerism
and Community Service Award for a Corporation at a ceremony held at the Executive Mansion,
recognizing the spirit and importance of volunteerism across the Commonwealth.
Genworth employees volunteered more than 22,000 hours – 17,000 hours in the Greater
Richmond region and Lynchburg – helping more than 150 organizations in 2015. Genworth
and its employees also contributed more than $2 million to the Greater Richmond, Petersburg
and Lynchburg regions.
The Governor’s Volunteerism and Community Service Awards program is a partnership
between the Office on Volunteerism and Community Service at the Virginia Department of
Social Service and the Governor’s Advisory Board on Service and Volunteerism.
United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg congratulates and celebrates all 2016 award
recipients.
