1.Review: What is honor? Who is to receive the highest honor
and why? How does our theology of honor impact the way we
think, speak, and act? 2. Read Romans 13:1. What instruction is given? Who is it
given to? Who is listed as exempt? What does this mean for
you?
3. What are some arguments one may give for finding it difficult
to submit to the civil government? How does Paul’s
statement in vv.1b-2 challenge those arguments? Who was in
charge in Rome when Paul penned this letter to the Roman
church? How does that inform our thoughts and actions?
What happens to those who resist the government? Is there
ever a time we should disobey?
4. What authority has God given to the civil government over
those who do wrong? How should those who do right feel
about the government? Do you feel this way?
5. Giving money to the government is never fun. How many
times does Paul mention this act in verses 6 and 7? Why
should Christians resist the temptation to cheat on their
taxes? How should a Christian feel and talk about paying
taxes? How have you felt and talked about paying taxes?
