Ford Motor Company Case Study

EMPLOYER CASE STUDY: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Ford Motor Company and its dealer network train and develop over 500 Apprentices
each year across a range of disciplines such as Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance,
Management and Business Administration.
The Ford Masters Apprenticeship Programme is the largest national automotive
dealer Apprenticeship Programme in the UK, with 1,000 learners currently working
towards their qualifications.
The success of the apprenticeship programme results in two thirds of all skilled staff
remaining at Ford where they are able to develop their careers, with many moving
into senior positions in the organisation.
The new Henry Ford Academy in Daventry opened its doors in June 2015 and is an
industry leading facility for Ford Apprentices. This multi-million pound facility boasts
a 200-seat auditorium, a car showroom and state of the art workshops.
Ford Motor Company’s vision is to be consistently at the forefront of Apprenticeship
delivery. Apprentices are part of the fabric of Ford from product development and
testing to manufacturing, sales, service and repair as well as the support functions
that allow the business to thrive.
Ford’s commitment to apprenticeships is evident in the number of ex-apprentices
who currently hold a range of positions across all levels of the organisation. The
ability to develop individuals from the beginning of their career, shaping their
knowledge, skills and behaviours, has resulted in very strong corporate culture and a
shared vision.
