Mesozoic Forest
Exit into the dense and noisy Mesozoic forest, concealing only in part a host of full-sized
robotic dinosaurs, and Jurassic Park’s beautifully sculpted dinosaurs. Learn what plants
dinosaurs dined on, handle the leaves and cones, fresh and fossilized while comparing
the nutritional value of each – measured in smelly methane tubes full of cow digestive fluid.
And how did giant dinosaurs digest? New discoveries overturn the myths of stomach stones.
Test for yourself, with mock-rocks in a washing-machine stomach vat.

The Exhibit
Lives of the Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs debuts in Canada, the largest touring
exhibition of dinosaurs, centered on the behavior and growth of the biggest
animals ever to walk the Earth. Two dozen dinosaurs up to 20 meters long,
and full-sized recreated animatronic dinosaurs up to 15 meters long loom
over visitors.
Among the exhibition’s key attractions:
The biggest of all meat-eating dinosaurs
Skeleton and full-sized recreation of the longest necked animal
The only touring display of the original Jurassic Park dinosaurs.
The largest bone in the world
Themes
The largest dinosaurs—planteating titans—grew exponentially larger than any creatures
before or since. Why? How? Did they chew their food? Grow as hot-blooded dinosaurs?
Breathe as we do? And the meateaters—how hard could they chew? How smart
were they?
New interdisciplinary research reveals the answers—via experiments visitors can
view and recreate—from pumping air through avian-style lungs and blood up to
towering necks, to grinding coarse food in a massive vat of a gut. Examine the cell
evidence that demonstrates dinosaurs were hot-blooded. Try out different foods on
a dinosaur and discover where it found the best nutrition. Touch, dig, and prepare
actual fossils.
This is a uniquely interactive and atmospheric dinosaur exhibit—on the cutting edge
of dinosaur research.

Behavior
How DID these dinosaurs stand and how did they forage? The debate rages and both
arguments are presented for visitor voting.
And how to master challenge of pulsing blood up to a three story-high neck? Whack
at the base of a giant thermometer and see how much force it takes to lift the red column
to neck height for Mamenchisaur.
And along with eggs and teeth to touch learn the latest scientific thoughts on dinosaur
rearing, communication, and battle.

Gallery of Giants
Beyond lies the towering form of the rearing giant plant-eater Mamenchisaurus.
The titan dominates a huge and activity-laden gallery.
The Par ade of Dinosaur Life
From what did the giant dinosaurs emerge? The winding fossil gallery leads us along
the path of dinosaur evolution, from tiny pre-dinosaurian reptile to enormous herbivores
and carnivores, all standing high on decorative plinths.
Meet duckbills and horned dinosaurs, predators tiny and giant, from poodle-sized
Velociraptor to the bigger-than-T. rex killer Giganotosaurus.
Seven-meter wide original murals, globes and elegant signage connect the animals
in time. So do more activities based upon the bones themselves.

Digging for Evidence
In front of the largest dinosaur bone in the world, children join a preparator in freeing real
dinosaur bone from rocky matrix. They peer into microscopic bone sections to determine
how and why dinosaurs were warm-blooded.
Last, a spacious dig pit, lined with dinosaur bones invites visitors to excavate to their heart’s
content, while others shop in the exhibit’s dinosaur gift shop.

A Giant Success
The summer 2017 showing of Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs will be the exhibit’s
premiere Canadian showing. So how do we know Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs
will be a blockbuster exhibition?
The proof lies not only in children’s eternal fascination with dino

by ExhibitsRex.
Our exhibits have drawn more than 5 million visitors, shattering
attendance records, including nearly 400,000 visitors for Chinasaurs
at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria. Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs is
distinguished not only by its huge and varied dinosaur ensemble,
but in its presentation of dramatic new findings, informed by the
expertise of leading international researchers and dinosaur author
and ExhibitsRex founder, “Dino” Don Lessem.
