Woodloch Pines Resort Pays Tribute to Everyday Heroes

Woodloch Pines Resort Pays Tribute to Everyday Heroes
Gathering Room and Weekend Dedicated to Honoring Their Services
HAWLEY, PA, July 16th, 2012- Woodloch Pines, an all-inclusive family resort located in Pennsylvania’s Pocono
Mountains, is proud to announce the unveiling of a new gathering room, to be named the “Heroes
Room.” The 960 square-foot room is dedicated in honor of all civilian heroes, including firemen, police,
and E.M.T’s.
Woodloch will be celebrating its first “Heroes Weekend” September 14th-16th, 2012. On top of offering a
late-summer escape for families, the entire weekend will focus on honoring America’s civilian service
heroes. The dedication ceremony will be held on September 15th at 5pm. Additionally, many of the
resort’s activities and events, including their famous Olympics, will be tailored to embrace the spirit of
courage shown in the line of duty. “Being a family resort, there is always a great sense of community,
caring, and camaraderie in the air,” says Joey Ranner, Social Director. “Honoring our civilian heroes not
only pays tribute to that spirit but also sets the standard of upstanding citizenship.” Additionally, guests
can expect more fun activity boating on Lake Teedyuskung, zip lining through the trees, or competing on
their brand new paintball field. Woodloch looks forward to honoring military heroes in a separate
ceremony around next year’s Memorial Day holiday.
During Woodloch Pines’ 54 years in business, many loyal guests have dedicated their careers to civil
service. This is a small way of recognizing their dedication. “We’ve had many close personal friends,
that chose to put their lives on the line for the greater good,” says Ranner. “This is just one way we can
express our eternal gratitude and share it with others.”
The Woodloch Pines “Heroes Club” entitles our guests to a 10% discount for the weekend. Upon check
in, all heroes are given a complimentary beverage voucher. They are also rewarded with a one hour
extended check out and a fresh baked token of appreciation for the ride home. All it takes is a valid
email address and ID to enroll into the program.
One of the resort’s inspirations for the Heroes Room came from a long-time guest and friend by the
name of Tom Brick. As a boy, he vacationed at Woodloch with his family. After graduation, he worked at
Woodloch for several years before realizing his dream of becoming a New York City fireman, graduating
in the first fire academy class after September 11, 2001. Brick dutifully marched into the lines of battle,
putting the lives of others before his own. Sadly, during a search and rescue mission in December of
2003, Tom was killed in the line of duty. Though Tom’s life was all too brief, his heroism and selflessness
will never be forgotten.
Brick’s story is one of many stories that deserve to be told. The dedication of the Heroes Room will allow
Woodloch to invite all civilian heroes, including police officers, firefighters, and E.M.T’s - to share their
stories. The new Heroes Room will be renovated and redesigned to include service badges, medals, flags
and more that loyal guests have so kindly donated. Woodloch will continually invite service men and
women to share their stories and memorabilia to be added to the Heroes Room by contacting the resort
at [email protected]. Acts of valor and courage will be proudly displayed in front of over
40,000 guests per year.
