Punctuation Final Assignment 2

Punctuation Final Assignment
You must choose ONE of the following assignments in order to showcase your understanding of the
punctuation rules we covered in class. No matter what project you choose, you must include the
following:




use hyphens to break words at the end of lines
use hyphens to make a new word from two related words
use parentheses appropriately
12 different rules from any other punctuation mark (chosen from what we reviewed - end
punctuation, apostrophe, comma, semi-colon, colon, dash, ellipses, quotation marks)
The Choices (remember complete only ONE of the following four assignments):
1. Write a Letter
Write a letter to someone – anyone - a famous person, your parents, an aunt or uncle, a
teacher - the possibilities are endless. In the letter you must showcase the punctuation
requirements listed above. How are we going to know you have included the requirements?
Well, you will point them out for us. You could use arrows or colors or sticky tabs – anything
you would like, but you must point out the punctuation mark so we can see that you are
using it correctly. In total you will have 15 arrows.
2. Make a Video
This is an exciting opportunity, but one in which you must be well-prepared. If you do not
have the technology, experience with the software or someone to assist you, it may not be
the best choice. Choose carefully please.
This assignment requires you to create a video showcasing the requirements listed above.
How this looks is totally up to you! If you complete this project with another student – each
person MUST be seen in the video and it MUST be clear that you both worked on the
creation of the video.
 Before starting, please see me to discuss your idea and its workability.
3. Create a cartoon
You don’t have to be a great artist to take on this assignment. Your job is to create a cartoon
that showcases the requirements listed above. One example is a punctuation self-help
group, but you can put your own creative spin on this and come up with your own concept.
Be careful, the cartoon you create must make it crystal clear that you understand the rules
you are showcasing.
4. Find a Passage
This assignment is exactly like the assignment we completed in class where you had to find
specific punctuation marks in literature and explain the rule. Only difference this time, you
must find the passages. Once you locate the material you need to make sure to showcase all
the requirements listed above.
Grading
