Cashless Catering
AllPay is our Cashless Catering system. This system incorporates the latest technology and eliminates the
need to carry cash throughout the day.
The system is a biometric system and this enables students to ‘pay’ for lunch using either a swipe card or by
scanning their finger.
Payment for meals is made in advance using one of the following methods:
 Cash (at local paypoints)
 Online payments
 Telephone payments using a 24 hour telephone number
The system incorporates automatic free school meal (FSM) allocation to student accounts and this enables
FSM students to remain anonymous.
A cashless system discourages the misuse of dinner money through spending in shops outside of the School
grounds and will alleviate problems such as loss of money.

Why AllPay?
Calder High School chose to partner with AllPay to deliver this system as at the time of purchase they were
the only supplier offering a fully integrated cashless catering system and online payment facility. This
reduced our expected costs by up to 60% and did not require us to integrate separate software systems.
What is a biometric system?
A biometric system is a secure and efficient way of identifying students at the point of sale. The data we
collect consists of a scan of a section your child’s thumb or finger.
This is not an actual fingerprint scan.
The scan takes a series of measurements (unique to your child’s print) which are then turned into a series of
numbers and stored.
When your child places his/her thumb/finger on the scanner, the measurements are taken again and
compared with the stored numerical record.
The system does not store the image of the finger scanned.
The stored co-ordinates are only of use in matching part of your child’s scan and cannot be used for
the purpose of reconstructing a thumb or finger print.
I do not wish for my child’s fingerprints to be taken, how will you ensure this does not happen?
The system does not enable Calder High School to take a copy of a child’s fingerprint without the explicit
permission of the parent/guardian. If you do not give this permission we will issue your child with a swipe
card. If you change your mind at a later date we can move your child to the biometric system.

How does this system work in the Diner?
Students come into the Diner and select the food and drink items they would like to purchase. They take
these to a till and either place their fingerprint on a scanner or present their swipe card. The value of the
meal is then deducted from their account.
How does this system work for free school meal children?
The free school meal (FSM) allowance will be loaded onto your child’s account as a cash credit. They can
then select and pay for food in the usual way.
If children spend more than the FSM allowance parents will need to add funds to their child's account to
cover this.
The current FSM allocation is £1.85 per day.
Is there a daily spend limit?
The maximum amount an individual can spend in one day (at Break and Lunch) is £5.00
This is a global setting for all students.
What do we do if a student has no money on their card?
We will ensure that children do not go without a meal. If a child’s account has reached zero and it has not
been topped up, we will enable a meal to be purchased and inform parents.
How do I check my balance?
Balances can be checked online or at the till by students.
What do I do if I am experiencing problems using the AllPay website?
AllPay have a Customer Support Team who can be contacted on:
Telephone: 0844 557 8318

All data is stored under the guidelines of the Data Protection Act and only used by parties directly associated
with Calder High School. Access to this information is controlled strictly by Calder High School only.
When students leave, their records are deleted.
