Printing 1. From the File tab, click Print. Complete the print options including the number of pages, page range and number of copies as required. 2. Select the appropriate settings the range and number of copies. Slides – Full Page Slides will print 1 slide per page Handouts - select 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 9 slides per page Notes Pages - 1 slide plus notes per page Outline View – a text only print of the slides. 3. A print preview is shown on the right. 4. Click Print to send the presentation to the printer. Presenting the on screen Slide Show 1. Click the Slide Show tab, From the Start Slide Show group select From Beginning or From Current Slide or press F5 2. Advance forward through the slides by clicking the left mouse button or pressing Enter on the keyboard. 3. Right click to navigate the slide show from a short cut menu. 4. Press the ESC key at any time to stop the slide show. PowerPoint 2013 An Introduction to Creating, Formatting and Presenting an on-screen slide show. Starting Microsoft PowerPoint 1. On the Transitions tab, move to the Transition to This Slide group. 2. Slide the mouse over the transitions to preview them on the slide, or click More to preview all transitions. 3. Click to add the transition to the slide or click Apply To All for consistency across all slides in the slide show. 1. From the Start menu, choose PowerPoint 2013 or click All Programs, then click on PowerPoint 2013 2. PowerPoint will open in Normal View and a blank Title Slide is displayed. 3. Normal View shows slide 1 in the Slide pane, a Notes pane below and the Slides and Outline tabs to the left. Adding Pictures If the slide layout you have chosen does not include a picture object: 1. On the Insert tab, choose Pictures from the Images group. 2. Locate the picture by selecting drive and folder in the Insert Picture dialogue box. 3. Select the picture file and click Insert. Adding Notes Use notes to enter your own speaker notes for each slide. These notes will not be visible when running the on screen presentation, but may be printed to be used as cue cards. From the View tab, select Notes Page and the slide will display in miniature. Click in the placeholder below the slide to type the notes. Use the Zoom command, bottom right of the status bar to increase the size of the notes pane if needed. The Title Slide 1. When the blank Title Slide is displayed, 2 text placeholders are provided on the slide. 2. Click in the Click to add title placeholder and type the title of the presentation. 3. Click in the Click to add subtitle placeholder and type a subtitle if required. For example, the name(s) of the presenter(s). 4. To format the text style, colour or size, use the Font group on the Home tab. Saving the Presentation Adding a New Slide 1. From the File tab, select Save. 2. Select a drive and folder in the Save As dialogue box and Name the file. 3. Click Save. Develop the presentation by adding additional slides. Design Add a professional design theme to the presentation. 1. From the Design tab, move to the Themes group 1. On the Home tab, move to the Slides group, click the arrow on the New Slide command. 2. Nine slide layouts will be displayed, eight containing different sets of objects and one blank. 3. The Title and Content layout is good for a second slide as it provides a title and a bulleted list as well as other objects. Use just the bulleted list to enter introductory text to the presentation contents. 4. Continue adding slides to complete the presentation. 5. Slides are inserted after the slide currently in the slide pane. Slide Objects – Move and Resize. Slide the mouse across the themes to preview the design, click More to see all the designs available. Click to apply a theme. All slides in the presentation will follow the theme and new slides added will automatically use the new theme. Placeholders containing text can be repositioned on a slide by clicking on the border of the placeholder with a 4 headed arrow pointer and dragging to a new position. Click an object and click on the resize handles (white circles and squares on the border) and drag them out from the centre to increase the size or in to the centre to decrease the size. Solid objects are repositioned by clicking and dragging from the centre of the object. Sorting Your Slides The order of the slides in a presentation may be rearranged if they have not been ordered correctly. To do this: 1. From the View tab, choose Slide Sorter from the Presentation Views group. 2. Click on the slide to be moved and drag it to its new position in the sequence.
