The Frog Room – 2½ year-olds

It is hard to believe that this will be our last newsletter! It seems like
yesterday that the children were walking in the door to start the year! It has
been very busy in our classroom these past few weeks. We were busy working
on our Mother’s Day gifts. The children all wanted to participate and worked
hard on their present and card for their mom! We also have finished up our
unit on the farm. The children have also enjoyed watching our butterfly habitat. We observed caterpillars grow and get bigger. The caterpillars made their
chrysalis and emerged as butterflies. The children were amazed by the cycle
of the butterflies! The children enjoyed making butterflies with coffee filters, eyedroppers and liquid water colors. We have also enjoyed exploring the
language of painting with watercolor paints.
During our Jesus time we have been learning about the wonderful
world that God has made for us. We have also been practicing our songs for
the church service on May 16th.
Enjoy the summer months with your children!

Scorpions, lady bugs, and honey bees oh my! The votes are in and we are doing a project on bugs. We have had worms and caterpillars to observe. We have
observed a worm dissection and learned that worms have 5 hearts. Our field work
included a visit by a honey bee keeper as well as a visit by Karen Ritter from Nature Tales who taught us all about insects. The children picked a bug to study and
presented what they learned to our class. During our art center, the children created the life cycle of a butterfly. It was a fun sequencing and science activity.
While we have been learning about bugs, we have learned about how God created
them as well as the entire world, during our Jesus time. We love singing the song
that we are practicing for church on May 16th.
It is hard to believe that next year the children will be starting kindergarten.
May your summer be filled with sunshine, love and laughter!

The Butterfly Room — 3 year-olds
I can’t believe that this is the end of the school year. It has
been a pleasure getting to know your children this year and watching them grow.
I can still remember our first visit together when I made a home visit. They have
not only changed physically, but they have also grown in the classroom.
This month we have been working on a small project related to animals. The children listed the animals that they would like more information about and we have
concentrated on a new animal each day. We have made a giraffe, zebra, elephant,
hippo and a turtle. We learned that a giraffe has to spread its’ legs to bend down
and drink water and that a hippopotamus eats grass and spends most of its day in
water.
We look forward to our family concert with Susan Sailor on Thursday, May 27.
This is a family event. Don’t forget a blanket and get ready to sing and dance.
We will be meeting in Fellowship Hall.
I hope you have a wonderful summer with your family and friends.
Thank you for sharing your children with us.

Pre-K+— 4 year old Enr ic hment
I want to thank you for having the opportunity to
work with your children. The school year has gone so quickly.
The children made number books, dictated stories, made patterns, enjoyed music, estimated, graphed, used fine motor
skills, grown socially, problem solved, participated in gross
motor skills, took part in the visual arts, explored science materials, identified letters and their sounds, enjoyed listening
to books, gained computer skills and learned of God’s continued love for them.
It has been a pleasure watching them grow. I hope that
you have a wonderful summer with your family and friends.
