Hello, BrainStorm family!
I’m excited to write you this letter and appreciative of your taking the time to read it. I simply
want to take a minute to thank you for your enthusiastic support of BrainStorm and its
mission and to update you on some exciting things we’ll be doing this year.
BrainStorm exists “to create life opportunities for its students and their families.” We believe
that every person is uniquely brilliant and capable of extraordinary success on his or her own
terms. We also believe in the power of holistic growth and relational strength in
accomplishing that success. For this reason, we call our teaching staff “academic mentors”
and incessantly seek to improve our ability to connect with our students and their families on
both academic and personal levels. I sincerely hope you have experienced this enthusiastic
commitment to custom-made excellence during your time with us.
In an effort to provide a more robust suite of options for our client families—with our eye on
creating customized, innovative opportunities for success, academic and otherwise—we are
officially launching three services we conceived and built out in 2014:
! Specialized Academic Coaching for students with learning disorders or specialized
learning needs, from Asperger’s to processing disorders to ADHD. Our small, highly
accomplished team—headed by my Chief of Staff, Kathy Acosta, LCSW—does
evaluations, advocacy, family education, and academic/skills coaching.
! Life/Performance Coaching for students and/or parents. Our certified life coaches
rock! They help individuals to increase self-awareness, choose more productive
solutions to difficult situations (like peer pressure or stress), set goals attached to
timelines, manage their schedule, and generally live a more joyful, purposeful life.
! ScottDoty.TV. My team & I are building out a site aimed at equipping parents to be
tremendous assets to their children’s academic experience. I will be populating the site
with articles, resources/research, personal anecdotes, and best practices for parents of
students of all ages. By virtue of your connection to BrainStorm, I am automatically
enrolling you (unless you request otherwise) to receive FREE content to your email
every week or two (mostly videos, and some articles) that will help you navigate the
treacherous, and often confusing, waters of coaching your children to academic
success. I have big ambitions for this site, and hope you find it extremely helpful!
Believe it or not, there’s more: this fall, we are opening a Spanish Immersion Preschool at
our Learning & Arts Center in Franklin Lakes. This idea was born from personal experience: I
am raising my two daughters to speak Spanish, and was frustrated when I couldn’t find a
Spanish Immersion preschool anywhere within 30 minutes’ drive of my home. I have decided
to take advantage of the beautiful space we’ve designed at our center and create for others the
preschool program I want for my own kids. We’ll be doing STEM projects, sing-alongs, art
projects, reading workshops—and all in Spanish. I’m psyched. You may not have a preschoolage child, but please consider telling a friend with kids that a second language is a GIFT FOR
LIFE! {And that BrainStorm is Santa Claus.}
Beyond these new developments, BrainStorm continues to offer its two core services: one-onone, in-home sessions for all K-12 school subjects, standardized tests, and applications
coaching (for both undergrad and postgrad programs, including med school); and small group
instruction in the same topics at our Learning & Arts Center in Franklin Lakes, in the form of
our flagship C2A membership program—the only academic support system of its kind.

We are almost at the end! So far we’ve discussed some of BrainStorm’s beliefs and new
offerings. I’ll quickly note, before getting to some special offers, that we’ll be switching your
online account to another, far more user-friendly management system over the coming weeks,
so please bear with us as we transfer information and get everything running smoothly. Also,
keep an eye out for our various summer offerings—we have much in store for July & August.
Now, some DEALS! Enclosed you’ll find two small flyers articulating several offers that are
exclusively furnished to those families receiving this letter. Please take us up on them—they
