Bordeleau Chili Cook-Off General Rules and Regulations









This chili cook-off is for cooks who just want to have fun and be recognized for their
superb culinary skills. Let your hair down! Dress up, wear a costume, just have fun!
Contestants need to pre-register in order to enter contest. There is a fee of $20.00 per
contestant (Chili Entry) to enter.
A panel of judges will be awarding the best of each category and the grand prize winner.
The contestant is responsible for supplying their own tables, chairs, or other cooking
utensils and supplies needed.
The contestant is responsible for furnishing their own cooking means (i.e. propane or
electric). No wood or coal burning allowed.
A minimum of 5 quarts must be cooked.
Chili must be cooked on site the day of the cook-off. “Secret” ingredients can be
prepped to arrival and assembled onsite.
Everything must be prepared in a sanitary manner. Chili must be kept at a minimum of
140 degrees and covered with a lid when not serving.
Each contestant will be assigned a contestants number and will be given judging cups.
Only edible ingredients may be used in the judging cups (i.e. no decorations in judges
cups)
FAQs
What is the cost and space size, and what do we need to bring? Entry fee is $20.00 per
chili entry. Each contestant will be allowed up to two tables per space. Contestants are
responsible for their own tables, chairs, cooking utensils, decorations, coverings, cook
stove, power cords and/or propane and clean up.
What is the set up time, cooking time, when can we leave, etc.? You may begin setting
up your booth at 9:30am. Cooking can start at 10am and chili needs to be finished at
3pm. Please allow time for entry and parking your vehicle. After judging is over, you may
break down your space or you may stay until 6pm.
Official judging will be blind, meaning that each judge will taste all chili categories and
vote on a numerical scale for taste, consistency, and appearance. The chili with the
highest score in each category will win a trophy. Also, the grand prize of $100 dollars
and the grand prize trophy.
