Tom George, K-12 Principal Mr. VanCamp would like to thank the NAJ Athletic Boosters, and the staff of NAJ for the recognition of my years of being the Athletic Director at the basketball game Friday night. I had no idea what was going on and it was a sincere honor and privilege to represent NAJ for 18 years as the Athletic Director. Thanks to all that had a part during my years of working as the Athletic Director. To name all who helped individually would be impossible. The work does not get done without many behind the scenes helping out. I am sincerely blessed. Again, thank you so much for recognizing me and for the sign of recognition that was installed in the gymnasium. END OF 1st SEMESTER IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 27, 2017. WE HAVE A HALF DAY—DISMISSAL @ 11:38. The JV game will start at 6:00. Homecoming activities will take place between the JV and Varsity Boys Basketball games. All students on court must be at the school no later than 6:30. FROM THE SPANISH TEACHER Spanish 1 and 2 students will be taking home their maracas and piñatas to finish over break. They are due January 9th. They will need to start working on their Unit 2 projects over break as well, if they have not already started. These have also been extended to be due January 9th. Finally, there is a small homework assignment to be done over break and will be due the week we get back. The options for this assignment went home December 16th. This all sounds like a lot, but students have been given plenty of time in class to almost get their maracas and piñatas finished before they left for break. They were also given Unit 2 project assignment in November. In January we will be starting a new unit. We will be learning how to express opinions and making suggestions. Students have worked hard improving their test scores and speaking skills. Encourage them to share what they are learning with you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, Sra. Whitacre, at the school or by email. I hope you have a very Felize Navidad! Sra. Whitacre The 7th grade won our first “Clash of Clans”. It was a close battle for 3 months but in the end, their superior job on A.R. pulled them ahead of both the 6th and 8th grade classes. The 7th graders chose to visit “The Hub” as their reward and had a great time on Friday, December 16th. Gaga ball, pool, ping pong, video games and basketball were favorites that afternoon. Our new clash has begun and it looks like it will be a close battle again between the three grades. COUNSELOR’S CORNER Seniors, I know it has been a very busy year for you and thank you for your dedication and hard work. Just a reminder to parents and seniors about getting your FAFSA completed. Also, remember seniors if you get me your confirmation letter that your FAFSA is completed by January 13th you are entered into a drawing for a Fitbit Alta or a $10 gas card. Again, thank you for your hard work. Juniors and Sophomores met with Mr. Sutherland on December 19th to go over their ASVAB scores. Parents, please take some time to talk with your child about this. There is great information not just about military opportunities but also about career planning and where their interest and skills align with different careers.
