New Year, New Changes
by Emily Baker
Every new school year brings
policy and rule changes. Some
changes go unnoticed, while
others cause controversy among
the student body. This year,
those changes include: breakfast
time, advisory schedules, lunch
separation of upper classmen and
underclassmen, and passing
periods being reduced. Last year,
breakfast was introduced to the
students during morning
advisory. Many students used
morning advisory and breakfast
as a way to socialize with their
friends, which defeated the
purpose of advisory. The misuse
of that preparatory time began to
hurt students academically. To
address this problem, but still
allow students to receive
breakfast, school starts ten
minutes later than last year.
The most talked about (or
complained about) change this
year is the one-minute reduction
of passing period. The majority
of the students say they don’t
have enough time, but the
number of tardies have gone
down. We may have less time,
but don’t worry – you can still use
your backpacks. Although the
school year brings new policies,
our goals remain the same: to
improve academically, stay on
track for graduation, and have a
fun school year.

Have you ever wondered what being a King
or Queen felt like? Well, Riley Fravel and Stevi
Burns knows exactly what it felt like. The
Couples (Left) looked stunning. Although it
is a tradition at other schools to dress formally,
we dress casually. Overall it was a success
and I’m happy that everyone had a wonderful
time.

Entertainment
by Mae Pratt and Kyia Oppel
As the school year progresses, so do our many
extracurricular activities here at North Harrison. One
prominent club we have is our Drama Club. Their current
production is Clue, a mystery play with 216 possible
endings. When interviewed, Trevor Clifton, a member of
the Drama Club said, ”The usual characters that appear in
the board game, such as Scarlet, White, Plum, Green,
Mustard, and Peacock, will appear along with the game
master, Mr.Boddy, and the cunning Detective. The
audience not only watches the performance, but
participates in it. Some audience members get to choose
the who, how, and where of the ending, as well as keep
score of how they think the ending will occur. Only one
character in the play, Mr. Boddy, knows the end of the
game, and it is up to the entire cast to make sure that
ending happens.” Trevor states, “I think the show will be
very interesting to watch. Not only does the audience not
know how the show is going to end, but neither does the
cast, crew, or even the director.”
Four show passes will be available. For season tickets and
more information please visit Mrs. Richardson.
The show dates are as follows- October 21st at 7:00 p.m.,
October 23rd at 2:30 p.m., October 28th at 7:00 p.m., and
October 30th at 2:30 p.m.
Another school activity in the works is the upcoming
Winter Choir concert. On October 4th, 2016, the choir will
be performing a unique mix of music, including French
music, and a Dirty Dancing song. When interviewed about
the upcoming concert, member Brooklynn Bruner stated,
“We have been working really hard and we are very excited
for the performance. We want everyone to come out on
October 4th and support the choir.”
A poll was recently conducted by Clay Pigg to see which
summer movies were most popular among students at
North Harrison. Finding Dory racked up fifteen votes,
Lights Out had five, Suicide Squad with sixteen, and Ghost
Busters finished with six. This concludes that Suicide Squad
was the most popular film this summer.

Proud of our Lady Cats
By: Austin N. Wilson
Following the appearance at the state finals last year, the Lady Cats have high expectations for this
upcoming season. The Lady Cats look to have a comeback and have another storybook season. It all started in
the summer with the hard work and dedication of the players. When asked about the key players over the
summer, Coach Voyles said,” Lilly Hatton played very hard this summer, she looks to be a leader.” Cali Nolot,
who was injured during the long playoff run, looks to bounce back and help the Lady Cats return to victory.
Coach Voyles stated,” during the summer tournaments, we pretty much played all 4A teams. We won games
against really good teams. Overall, we played very well.” Coach A. Hinton had a lot to say about the team
chemistry. She stated that the Lady Cats only lost two players from last year’s team, so the team chemistry is
still at a peak. Coach Hinton also added that the girls from this team have been playing together their whole life,
so they have plenty of experience working as a unit. Coach Voyles stated,” All of the returning varsity players
have started together at some point. This is a great team. We all work well together.” When asked about the
goals for this upcoming season, both Coach Voyles and Coach Hinton stated that they wanted to make another
run for state, and win conference.
