Macquarie University International College Portfolio Entry Application Your pathway to a Macquarie University bachelor degree If you don’t have formal qualification you can submit this portfolio entry application and we will then assess you for entry into a program offered by the Macquarie University International College. The College provides pathways into a Macquarie University bachelor degree. Criteria To be considered you will need to meet the following criteria: you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident Australian Permanent Humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen you have not previously enrolled in a diploma/degree at a higher education provider, and you have some assessable educational qualifications, training and/or relevant work experience. Personal statement The personal statement is used as a key selection tool for portfolio entry applicants. It is important to demonstrate your capacity and motivation to succeed in higher education studies by answering the following points in a personal statement (750‐1,000 words) in the space below or in an attachment. a. Briefly describe your background and reasons why you have not undertaken higher education studies until now. b. Outline the reasons for selecting the area of study that you are interested in and how you see this study fitting into your longer term goals. c. Include information relating to other studies or training you have undertaken since leaving school as an indicator of your academic capabilities. d. Explain the strategies you will use to combine the demands of university study with your other commitments eg, work, family responsibilities etc. e.
