I have called you friends
Today, we celebrate the last Sunday before the solemnities of the Ascension and the Pentecost that close the
Easter celebrations. If all through these Sundays the resurrected Jesus has appeared before us as the Good Shepherd
and as the vine which we have to be a part of, as its branches are, today his Heart is open wide for us.
Certainly, in his Heart we can only find love. What constitutes God’s deepest mystery is that He is Love.
Whatever He has done from his Creation to his redemption through Christ is because of love. Whatever He is expecting from us in response to his actions is just love. This is why his words resound today: «Remain in my love»
(Jn 15:9). Love requests reciprocity, it is like having a dialogue that makes us reciprocate with a growing love to
his first love.
A fruit of love is joy: «I have told you all this, that my own joy may be in you and your joy may be complete» (Jn 15:11). If our life does not reflect the joy of believing, if we are overwhelmed by our own frustrations
and do not realize the Lord is also next to us, consoling us, it is because we do not know Jesus sufficiently well.
God always keeps the initiative. He expressly says so when He affirms «it was I who chose you» (Jn 15:16).
We may feel tempted to think it is we who have chosen him, but we have done nothing but answering his call. He has
freely chosen us to be his friends: «I shall not call you servants (…). Instead I have called you friends» (Jn 15:15).
In the beginning, God spoke to Adam as a friend speaks to his friend. Christ, the new Adam, has recovered for us
not only the previous friendship, but also our intimacy with God, inasmuch as God is Love.
It can all be summarized by saying just this word: “Love”. St. Augustine reminds us so: «The good Master
recommends us quite often that charity is the only possible commandment. Without charity all the other good qualities mean nothing. Charity, in fact, leads man necessarily to all the other virtues that make him good».

The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the St. Michael Chapel

Bishop’s Appeal. Thank you to all who have already contributed to the

Profession of Sister Lovina (Lovey) Reyes, I.C.M. The Eucharist will be
celebrated on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church,
F’sted. Come and join her in singing God’s praises for a fruitful missionary
journey and the lessons and experiences that have enriched her.
THE MAGNIFICAT - ST. CROIX CHAPTER will have a Magnificat
Meal next Sunday, May 17th at Gertrude’s Restaurant with a luncheon beginning at 12:30 p.m. They are inviting all Catholic women to go and celebrate
with them. The guest speaker will be Diane Cole Alleyne of Barbados. Tickets

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”
A vosotros os he llamado amigos
Hoy celebramos el último domingo antes de las solemnidades de la Ascensión y Pentecostés, que cierran
la Pascua. Si a lo largo de estos domingos Jesús resucitado se nos ha manifestado como el Buen Pastor y la vid
a quien hay que estar unido como los sarmientos, hoy nos abre de par en par su Corazón.
Naturalmente, en su Corazón sólo encontramos amor. Aquello que constituye el misterio más profundo de
Dios es que es Amor. Todo lo que ha hecho desde la creación hasta la redención es por amor. Todo lo que espera
de nosotros como respuesta a su acción es amor. Por esto, sus palabras resuenan hoy: «Permaneced en mi amor»
(Jn 15,9). El amor pide reciprocidad, es como un diálogo que nos hace corresponder con un amor creciente a su
amor primero.
Un fruto del amor es la alegría: «Os he dicho esto, para que mi gozo esté en vosotros» (Jn 15,11). Si
nuestra vida no refleja la alegría de creer, si nos dejamos ahogar por las contrariedades sin ver que el Señor
también está ahí presente y nos consuela, es porque no hemos conocido suficientemente a Jesús.
Dios siempre tiene la iniciativa. Nos lo dice expresamente al afirmar que «yo os he elegido» (Jn 15,16).
Nosotros sentimos la tentación de pensar que hemos escogido, pero no hemos hecho nada más que responder
a una llamada. Nos ha escogido gratuitamente para ser amigos: «No os llamo ya siervos (...); a vosotros os he
llamado amigos» (Jn 15,15).
En los comienzos, Dios habla con Adán como un amigo habla con su amigo. Cristo, nuevo Adán, nos ha
recuperado no solamente la amistad de antes, sino la intimidad con Dios, ya que Dios es Amor.

Reflexión de LA SEMANA
El amor de una madre es el
combustible que hace que un ser
humano logre lo imposible.
LA IGLESIA DE SAN JOSE le da las gracias a todos los que ayudaron
y nos apoyaron con la celebración de Apreciación para el Diácono Charles,
que tuvo lugar el pasado domigo 3 de mayo (Fiesta de San José). El evento
fue un éxito debido a la cooperación de todos. Dios los bendiga.
LA VIRGEN se llevará mañana lunes 11 de mayo a las 7:00 p.m. a la casa
de Luz González in Sion Farm, donde se rezará el rosario y permanecerá
allí por todo el mes. Para los que no saben donde Luz vive, nos reuniremos
en el Shanty de Sion Farm a las 6:30 p.m. para salir a las 6:45p.m.
ADORATION. La adoración del Santísimo en la capilla de San Miguel
continúa el próximo martes 12 de mayo de 7:00 a.m. a 6:00 p.m.
La segunda colecta del próximo domingo 17 de mayo será para
la Campaña de la Comunicación Católica. Gracias.
SUPLICA DEL OBISPO. Gracias a todos los que ya han contribuído con
la Súplica del Obispo del 2015. Necesitamos más ayuda para poder llegar

Caridades Católicas y el esfuerzo de la Evangelización necesitan del apoyo

ORACION POR LOS SACERDOTES
Jesús, Sacerdote eterno, guarda a estos siervos en el recinto de tu Corazón, donde nadie pueda hacerles daño alguno; guarda inmaculadas sus manos consagradas que a
diario tocan tu Sagrado Cuerpo; guarda sin mancha esos
corazones sellados con el sublime Sacerdocio; haz tu santo
amor los envuelva y separe del contacto del mundo Bendice
sus trabajos con frutos abundantes y sean las almas por ellos dirigidas y administradas, su consuelo y gozo aquí en la
tierra y después su hermosa corona en el Cielo.
