Have you limited your activities because you have a
fear of falling? Join this award winning program
that will help you set goals, increase strength and
balance and improve flexibility. You will receive a
handbook and certificate. This program is facilitated
by trained and certified Lifespan staff.

Health Insurance Information Counseling and
Assistance Program (HIICAP) will be provided by
Lifespan HIICAP counselors. Receive free, accurate
and objective information, counseling, assistance
and advocacy on Medicare, private health
insurance, and related health coverage plans.

Angel Tree Fundraiser
Thursday, December 1 10:30am
Today we will complete this community service
project - creating angels for our angel tree. This is
a” fundraiser for a friend” event that will raise
money to help make a holiday happier for a local
older adult in our community. Purchase your angel
for $1. We will personalize it with the name of a
loved one, pet, friend, grandchild, son, daughter,
etc. Names will be hand written in gold/silver
calligraphy. When the tree is full of beautiful
angel’s it is sure to make you smile! Project starts at
10:30am.
Play Mah Jongg
Thursdays, December 1 & 8 12:30pm
Join other Mah Jongg players to enjoy this very
popular game. Lessons will not be provided on
December 1 & 8. To sign up for Mah Jongg
lessons, please register with staff. Classes will be
held 12/15, 12/22 and 12/29. The fee is $3 per
person per class for a total of $9 per person. It is
highly recommended that you sign up for all 3
classes so that you do not miss any instructions.
Refreshments will be provided.

share! Join Terie K. to learn the art of beading. If
you are interested in helping to make dolls for our
Dress a Girl Around the World project, we will

Our dedicated crafters that were instrumental in
making items for our booth in the YMCA annual
craft sale will come together today to discuss what
worked, and what we can change for 2017. We are
very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented
group. Please join us if you are interested in
participating next year.

Meet Lore McSpadden and explore some of the
research done regarding the relationship between
mindfulness practices, health, and stress reduction.
Then, participants will be introduced to a few
simple mindfulness exercises that they can integrate
into their lives.

Artist Linda Kerr: Penny Rug Holiday Project $3
Wednesday, December 7 12:30-2:30pm
Create a beautiful Penny Rug to adorn your table at
home. This folk art craft born in the 1800’s, women
used pennies as templates; scraps of felt and wool
were sewn together to create beautiful designs.

Artist’s Reception with Laurie Pellittieri

Join us to learn more about this month’s
multi-talented artist, member Laurie Pellitieri. You
may recognize her name. Laurie is a civil war
reenactor, sign artist, and we cannot forget the
colonial tea she provided, food and clothing
included! This month, you will learn about the dolls
that Laurie designs and the clothing that she makes
for each doll.
Travel to Santa’s Workshop

Volunteer to bring cheer to children! Board a bus
bound for the Monroe County Sheriff’s department
headquarters, where you will join volunteers to
wrap toys for children living in the city of
Rochester. These toys were purchased through the
generosity of the deputies. Lunch will be provided.
Return to the YMCA by noon. This event is
sponsored by the Monroe County Sheriff’s

Sharon Myers, a local volunteer will be delivering
an assortment of flowers, provided by Trader Joe’s.
We need your help to arrange the flowers into
bouquets. We would then like to donate the
bouquets to seniors in our community. If you are
aware of anyone or can suggest a community that
you would like to deliver bouquets to, please let
staff know.
Dress a Girl Around the World Announcement
Volunteers for the Dress a Girl Around the World
project will not be meeting during the month of
December. They will return in January.
