USA imperband kit
full waterproofing system for shower areas
The USA imperband kit is an indoor waterproofing system consisting of a PVC gutter thermowelded to a
40x40 inches waterproof sheet. Specially recommended for waterproofing shower trays in new building
works. Resisdential use.

Installation guidelines
This butech waterproofing kit has been developed to be installed with an adhesive thin coating and notched
trowell.
1. Imperband kit connexion with the drainpipe.
2. Check the drain watertight
Connect the outlet to the drainpipe.
Slop water through the drain and check the outlet works
properly. Protect the drain in order to avoid the entrance of
remains.

3. For application of cement based mortar.
4. Shower tray base waterproofing.
Cover the shower base mortar until the drain upper level (up
to the membrane) and the finished floor of shower area shall
slope uniformly from the sides toward the drain not less than
¼ inch per foot (20.9mm/m), nor more than ½ inch per foot
(41.8mm/m). Let it dry. Check if the drain upper part plus
coating are at the desired base level.
Once the substrate is dry, use a latex modified mortar
and spread it with a 1/4 inches notched trowell.

6. Shower tray angles waterproofing
Cut the waterproof sheet according to the shower tray area,
leaving enough membrane in order to cover 4 inches over
each wall.
Lay the waterproof sheet and press it over the adhesive yet
wet without forming air bags.
On corners, fold the membrane so that it covers the whole
line between the wall and the shower tray. In case it is needed to lay the waterproofing on both wall and floor, overlap
at least 4 inches with imperband membrane (indoors waterproof sheet).

8. Tilinng material installation.
Install the grate frame on the drain gap and check the
joint is watertight. Use latex modified mortar to fix the
linear base membrane on the bottom (this membrane is
used to fix tight the linear drain to the floor).
Install the ceramic tiles over the membrane using the thin
set method. You can use the reccomended mortar to install
the ceramic tiles.

Screw the strainer into the gully (be carefull not to brake
the screw)
Insert the grate by pushing until you hear “click”.

9(A). Install the grate inside the linear drain.

Insert the grate by pushing hard. Push on both sides of
the grate as shown on the picture until de grate is complete integrated into the channel.
Use the puller hook to pry in to the grate. To pry with the
puller hook in one side of the grate will need less effort.
In the case of tileable ceramic grate (linear ceramic grates), just cut a piece of ceramic exactly the same size of
the grate adhere the piece of ceramic direct to the grate
(the grate has a membrane fleece to receive the tile).
