Kondinin Group along with the ANFD invites manufacturers to enter their new products in the prestigious award. The awards will be judged at the ANFD on Tuesday, October 21, with winners announced at a presentation breakfast the following morning. For entry forms and more information, please contact ANFD. The brainchild of South Australian company, MEA, the GDot is suitable for use in irrigated orchards, vineyards or crops and in almost all soil types. For growers who want a device that simply shows the moisture content of the soil with no technical recording system, the GDot is a simple, entry level product. The device does not record data or perform moisture depth monitoring. Claimed to be viewable from 15 metres away, the GDot mounts or hangs on a fence with the plug in moisture probe buried in the soil. Using a standard watermark granular matrix sensor the display module has a series of coloured dots which appear and disappear to reflect the soil moisture levels. The GDot is housed in a scratchresistant and ultra violet stable, polycarbonate casing that has a bright red base making it easily visible on a green background. Operated off two AA batteries it is said to be service–free for up to three years. The GDot retails from $330 and is available through MEA’s network of resellers. The hard plastic, bubble-shaped baffle is used to reduce the movement of liquid in a transit vessel and improve load stability. To be inserted in the tank the baffle requires a lid opening of 355 millimetres and is designed to take up minimal liquid space. Suitable for most types of tanks including steel, poly or fibreglass, ball baffles are inserted through New machine a breath of fresh air KvAgriculture has developed a new concept in air seeders with a light-weight, electrically driven machine. The FZHE 600, six-metre seeder is a 192-tined weeder with a small seed box and air distribution system. With angle adjustment on the main finger tines, it can be set from very aggressive to just scratching the surface, which makes it ideal for top dressing pastures with small seeds. Fitted with four ground wheels for stability during operation, the three-point-linkage-mounted seeder folds up to 3 metre wide for transport. The PS250 M2 air seeder box has a capacity of 250 litres and is driven with an electric motor powered by the tractor’s 12-volt outlet. If the weeder harrows are not suitable for the operation, the small seed box is designed to be easily exchangeable and mounted on other implements such as power harrows, curly tine cultivators, chisel ploughs or rollers. Calibrating the air seeder is claimed to be simple with an electronic control panel in the tractor cabin. A wheel at the rear of the machine monitors ground speed and varies the rate according to the speed and desired sowing rate set on the controller. Sowing rates range from one kilogram per hectare to 100kg/ha and can be varied on the go with the in cabin controller. KvAgriculture claim a 44–52 kilowatt tractor is adequate to power the air seeder that can be operated accurately at high speeds. Recommended retail price: APV PS250 M2 air seeder is $9100 plus GST and freight; APV FZHE600 tined weeder has a RRP of $11,750 plus GST and freight.
