I traveling north, turn left ABOUT OUR FOUNDER: If you are new to the club, you most likely don’t know much about the origins of Tall Clubs International and our Founder. Kae Sumner Einfeldt 1916-1996 The founder and inspiration of Tall Clubs International was a woman named Kae Sumner Einfeldt. She was active in the organization from its inception until her passing in 1996 and was a popular figure at tall club events and conventions. Kae was born May 19, 1916, in Oakland, California. The family moved a bit in the southern California area where she eventually took a job at the Walt Disney Studio as an artist in the ink-and-paint and special effects departments. During that time, she worked on the famous animated film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," an interesting irony for a woman who was 6’3” which resulted in her being listed in the Guiness World Book. TCI was started when Kae approached the Los Angeles Times with an idea for an article about life as a tall woman. As an after-thought, she added a note asking other tall people to contact (continued next page) her and suggested they get together to discuss the woes and joys of being tall. Eight people responded and later formed the the “Longfellows Club." The name was later changed to the California Tip Toppers Club (CTTC). When the California Tip Toppers was first begun by Kae in 1938, height requirements were established for membership in the club. Women had to be at least 6’0″ and men had to be at least 6’4″ in order to join. The CTTC is the only TCI club that requires members to be 6’ and 6’4”. Once people learned of Kae’s club, tall clubs popped up across the country. Eventually the clubs banded together and Tall Clubs International was created to serve as the umbrella organization. Kae passed away sometime during the night of September 27, 1996, at the Pacific Coast Manor nursing home in Capitola, California. As a direct result of Kae's efforts, at the TCI membership peak there were over 60 member clubs in both the U.S. and Canada. Now, decades later, thousands of tall people have Kae to thank for a lifetime of fun and meaningful relationships which they have shared with their extended family of tall friends from all around the world. All of these clubs owe a debt of gratitude to Kae. She is greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. SUNDAY, MAY 1, 2:30 P.M.
