We are looking for a commercially astute person looking to embark on a challenging career as
a Management Trainee. The role will be based initially at our corporate office in various
locations. Although the role will have a national remit and candidates must be geographically
mobile.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Research and develop market/operational potential. Assist in establishing strategies and
goals.
2. Use a variety of feedback tools, including surveys, personal visits, and performance evaluators.
Work with the Manager to effectively resolve problems.
3. Assist the District Sales Managers to establish initiatives and objectives that are aligned with
the company goals. Assist the District Sales Managers in preparing annual budgets.
4. Timely and accurately prepare required reports.

5. Facilitate problem resolution with technical staff, distributors, and producers. Minimize
liability and collaborate to implement corrective action.
6. Maintain good working relationships, act professionally and positively represent Westway.
7.
Maintain confidentiality.
8. Participate in relevant and mandatory training and represent the Company at industry
functions and organizations as requested.
9. Take the initiative to identify problems, use judgment to find appropriate solutions and follow
through on resolving issues in a timely manner.
10. Support team efforts, actively work to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperate with
others, and actively learn from other team members.
PERSON SPECIFICATION













Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
A capable oral and written communicator who effectively builds relationships.
Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
Complete fluency in business English.
Flexible and adaptable; eager to learn and thoroughly understand the sugar industry,
able to adjust to change quickly and keen to take on new challenges.
Self-confidence, with the ability to voice opinions constructively.
Entrepreneurial spirit; generates ideas for business improvements and is able to
implement them.
Strong emphasis on performance; sets high standards, goal orientated, ambitious and
able to maintain performance under pressure.
Determined and resilient with a desire to make a long term contribution to ED&F
Man’s business.
A strong interest in the agricultural commodities industry.
Committed team player who is willing to be flexible and assist with a whole range of
tasks to support your colleagues.
Proficient technology skills are crucial, particularly Excel.
Willingness to travel at short notice to any destination as required by the business.
