Please take the time to thank our teaching staff for the many ways they
pour into our children's education and spiritual walk. You can write a
note, cover recess or lunch duty, or contact the office to sign up to
provide breakfast or lunch for the staff. Thank you for helping to make
this week awesome for our staff!!!
LEADERSHIP NEWS
On Wednesday, March 9, the TCCS Leadership team will be holding a Red
Cross Blood Drive at Terra Ceia Christian Reformed Church from 10-2.
Appointments can be made on the Red Cross website, but walk-ins are also
welcome! Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with a parental
consent form. Remember, 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives, so please
come out and support this event!

JR. CLASS FUNDRAISER!
There will be a Prom fundraiser on Monday, March 14 at Pizza
Inn in Washington from 5-8 pm. Come on out that night for
supper. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the Jr. Class
for the Prom!

HISTORIC NOTES ON TERRA CEIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
March 5, 1945 – Plans for the first PTA meeting were being made. This meeting was combined with the
commencement program on June 13, 1945. The first graduates from the 8 th grade of the Terra Ceia Christian
School were Tina and Case VanStaalduinen and Dick Van Dorp.
On October 1, 1945, the annual society meeting was held and a lively meeting it was! The issue of voting
rights for women came up, and during the discussion tempers flared to the boiling point. Some of the ladies
present got up to walk out of the meeting, and only through the intervention of Rev. Kenbeek were they
persuaded to stay. He pointed out that the article in question, Article 4, did not exclude women from
membership in the society and, therefore, it could be assumed that they had the right to vote. However, the
majority felt that women should be barred from active membership in the society. To make it official, a
motion was made on the spot to suspend Article 4, which was carried unanimously!
At a school society meeting held on May 6, 1946, Article 4 of the constitution was rewritten allowing
membership to both sexes but giving the right to vote and hold office only to male members.
