No Man Is Greater Than Their Prayer Life

No Man Is Greater Than Their Prayer Life
The Model Prayer - Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased,
that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
(Luke 11:1)
No man is greater than his prayer life. We quickly become busy doing the work of the ministry
in our pursuit to please God. If we are not careful the work that is intended to bring us joy will
eventually bring us sorrow, for no vessel is of any use when empty. Jesus made sure to model
the right balance of servitude. He preached, taught, healed and delivered all who came to Him.
Yet what He modeled most to His disciples outside of the public eye was a deep personal
devotional life to the Father.
On many occasions Jesus would separate Himself from the others to recharge in the presence
of the Father. Who are you outside of the public eye? We live in an age where the modern
saint defines recharging by sitting mindlessly in front of the television or some other form of
distraction. We make the mistake of thinking that we will be defined by how and what we
preach and minister to others, forgetting that GOD will define us by who we are--not by what
we do.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy
name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I
profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:22-23)
We can become so caught up in what we do, forgetting who we are. No one is greater than
their prayer life. A devotional life speaks of the majesty of God and the need to know Him
better. Today devotional time is recommend so people can receive more, rather than give more
to the One who gave all for us. By doing this we come into the presence of God with an attitude
of a taker not a giver. Devotion is our personal gift to God. It is where esteem and adoration
come together to bring forth the purist of praise--away from human eyes and ears, instead
close to the Father’s heart. Our Lord Jesus demonstrated outward glory for all to receive, but
He modeled inward devotion for those who follow closely. For our personal holiness, will is the
greatest thing that will ever come out of our lives. Lord, teach us to pray.
