Fall/Winter 2016
This comes as no
surprise to the
66,000 drivers
travelling that stretch
daily, but beginning
in November, this
concrete roadway will learn to flex.
The Michigan Department of
Transportation (MDOT) is slated to
make improvements to the busy
US-23 corridor between
the M-14 interchange and Silver
Lake Road. The good news is
that MDOT named this heavilytravelled section of US-23 as the
first “FlexRoute” in the state.

FlexRoutes use modern-day
strategies to keep traffic moving
during construction and rush-hour,
including the use of shoulder
areas for third lanes and electronic
message boards alerting drivers to
traffic issues and accessible lanes.
The FlexRoute is expected to
greatly reduce commute time on
US-23 during morning and evening
rush hour.
The Prairie House Press is a quarterly newsletter for the tenants of Domino’s Farms.

Would you know what to do in an emergency?
Earlier this year, Domino’s
Farms Security updated
and distributed the Office
Park Emergency Guide to
all tenants. This must-have
guide covers a variety of
emergencies, from how to
respond if an active shooter is
in the building to the protocol
for bomb threats, fires, severe
weather and medical or utility
emergencies.
The guide provides
general information on
each topic and what to
do in the event of such
an emergency.
All tenants are asked
to review this guide
with staff and direct
any questions to the
Security team at 930-4911.
Additional copies of the guide
are available at the
Security office located at
Lobby H.
Domino’s Farms Fitness Center
‘Tis the season to break the scale. Don’t do it!
With the holiday season approaching, it is difficult to stay on track with weight loss goals given the added temptation of
all of the delicious food and sweet treats that accompany holiday gatherings. With this in mind, every year the Fitness
Center hosts two weight loss challenges to help members stay healthy during the holiday season.
Holiday Weight
Maintenance Challenge
First up is the “Holiday Weight
Maintenance Challenge.” The
goal of the challenge is to
lose weight or maintain
current weight from
Thanksgiving thru New Year’s
.
To participate, members
weigh-in during the week of
Thanksgiving and put $10 into
the pot. After the New Year,
participants weigh-in again
and if they maintained or lost
weight, they receive their $10
back plus a share of the pot
from the participants who did
not make it.
Last year, 21 out of 27
participants maintained their
pre-holiday weight which
greatly exceeded the previous
year’s results.
Chose 2 Lose
The second challenge is
called “Choose 2 Lose”
which begins the first week
of the New Year. Teams of two
people pair-up to lose 10 lbs.
each in 10 weeks.
Both team members put $20
into the pot and if both lose
the weight, they split the pot
with the other winners. Last
year, over half the teams
reached their goals.
These incentive programs
have been a great motivator
to eat smart and keep
exercising while under the
pressures and temptations of
the holiday season.

upcoming holiday challenges,

Testing for Radon In Your Home
It’s a bison bonanza!
Our bison herd is now 91
strong, including 32 calves
born this year that are all just
as cute as the one pictured.
Our newly acquired breeding
bull is already hard at work,
so expect more calves next
year.
During November, the
herd will receive its annual
vaccinations and de-worming
as part of the annual fall
roundup.

Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon. The EPA
recommends testing all homes on every level below the third level. Testing is easy and should
only take a few minutes. There are many low cost, do-it-yourself test kits that can be ordered
through the mail or purchased in many local hardware stores. Home owners can even hire a
qualified tester to do the testing.

Nearly 1 out of
every 15 homes
in the U.S.
has elevated
radon levels.
How does
radon get into
your home?
Radon typically
moves up through
the ground and into
your home through
cracks or holes
in the foundation
though it can even
come in through
the water supply.
Fixing a
radon problem
Radon reduction
systems work
and are not too
costly. Some radon
reduction systems
can reduce radon
levels in your home
by up to 99%.
Even high levels
can be reduced to
acceptable levels.
