CANAL İSTANBUL
CANAL İSTANBUL would be located in the current European side of Istanbul and thus form an island between the continents
of Asia and Europe. The new waterway will bypass the current Bosphorus. The main purpose of the project is to reduce the
marine traffic through the Bosphorus and minimize the risks and dangers associated particularly with tankers. The canal will
further help prevent the pollution caused by cargo vessels passing through or mooring in the Sea of Marmara before the southern entrance of the Bosphorus. On the place wich connects canal and Marmara Sea in 2023 there will be established two
new cities. 40-45 km length of the channel; surface width of 145-150 m, the base is about 125 m. The depth of the water
will be 25 m.
453 million square meters planned to be installed in the new city of 30 million square meters constitute the Canal Istanbul.
Other areas of the airport is about 78 million square meters, Ispartakule and Bahçeşehir with 33 million square meters, with
108 million square meters of roads, parcels with 167 million square meters and the 37 million square meters of public green
space is divided into.
