Destiny Library Resource
We all want the best for our kids, right? Summer can be a wonderful time to enjoy great
activities and reconnect with more family time, but we don’t want our kids to experience the
“Summer Slide”. Tulare City School District has a great resource that can be used throughout
the year to keep our kids reading. Visit the TCSD Digital Library today to tour the resources
available there to help you and your child:
• find a book in your student’s school library
• access an ebook to read on your own computer, tablet, or phone
• discover the world of information on the internet through a safe search engine.
Need a Good Book?
Students can take a virtual trip to their school library and use the online catalog to help them
find the books that they want to read! Every print book (and ebook) in the library is in our
Destiny/Follett system. You can look books up by specific titles, or search by author or subject.
By learning to use the online catalog, students will no longer have to randomly pull books off the
shelf and hope that it is ‘a good one.’ Instead they can search based on their personal interests,
and explore subjects that they enjoy reading and learning about.
Need eBooks?
Tulare City School District has over 2,700 ebooks available online for students and parents to
read. School may be closed, but our Follett Destiny Digital Library is always open. Students can
check out and read books online from any computer, tablet, or phone with internet access after
school, on the weekends, and even during the summer. All the information you need to access
books will be on your school library page. The search and filter features make it easy to find just
the right book for each child, whether they are in first grade or seventh grade.
Need a Safe Internet Search Engine?
Our Follett Destiny Library offers WebPath Express, a database with access to over 10,000
educator-approved websites with safe and appropriate academic content. Using WebPath
Express makes it easier for students to find information while filtering out questionable content.
Completing class assignments and homework becomes less frustrating and time-consuming for
students when they have immediate access to safe and reliable websites. One of the filter
features on WebPath Express allows students to narrow down their search by reading and
interest levels, among other things. This helps students to find websites with information which
will be age appropriate and understandable for them. Information on how to access the search
tool will be on your school library page.
