NEW DEAL KEEPS AWARD-WINNING “THE KENNEDY CENTER HONORS” ON CBS THROUGH 2018

Following on the heels of CBS’s long-term agreements with The Recording Academy for the GRAMMY AWARDS
(UPDATE 7/13/11) and with the Academy of Country Music for the ACM AWARDS (UPDATE 2/15/12), the
Network and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts have announced a new deal which will keep the
KENNEDY CENTER HONORS broadcast on the Network through 2018. The arrangement extends one of the
longest broadcast partnerships in television history. The special, which recognizes lifetime contributions to
American culture through the performing arts, has been broadcast on CBS each year since its debut in 1978.

In 2011 the KENNEDY CENTER HONORS won the
Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Musical or Comedy
Special for the third consecutive year. Since its debut on
CBS the broadcast has been awarded a total of eight
Emmys. The program has also been recognized with the
Peabody Award for Outstanding Meritorious Service to
Broadcasting, and seven awards from the Writers Guild
of America.

away at the age of 86 on Feb. 9. Tom started his career in
