Introduction
Good English is a serious of books which help English students learn their mother
language. The language using of the books is very fluent and natural. In my opinion,
we gain knowledge of English, which will improve our ability greatly. We have
various thoughts and feelings after reading the books, writing them into an article is
a good way to express our feelings. Different people have different ideas about the
same book, we can have a clear impression about what others are thinking of this
book through the way of sharing.
Dog or Wolf ?

White Fang was written by Jack London who was born in san Francisco in 1876.
Because of the inspiration for The Call of the Wild (1903) and White Fang, Jack

London become one of the most widely read writers in the world. He has written 50
books in his life and he died in 1916 because of the toxuria. This book white fang was
published in 1906 when the writer was 30 years old. The book is a novel about a wolfdog named White Fang. It sees the world through animals eyes, reflecting the human
battle between man and nature.
The story began with a horrible wail, terrifying stillness and two man named
Henry and Bill. They saw a she-wolf in the dark. Then the main character White Fang
appeared. He had both his mother’s reddish fur and his father’s pure grey wolf coat of
his father. He was a wolf-dog just like his mother. After his father’s death, White
Fang and his mother Kiche met a man who was Kiche‘s owner before. It was the little
cub’s first sight of the men. It was so mysterious. But after a period of time he had to
leave from his mother. When White Fang was five years old , he was sold by Grey
Beaver to a bad through and through man. He became unlovable and unloving by the
fighting day by day. He may went into a living hell, all the fights were to the death
even though he always won the game. At last Scott saved him, the life now was full of
light.
The little cub become a strong wolf-dog now. he underwent a lot of hardships in
his life. But thanks for those hardships, he understands many things. When he first
went out of the cave, he knew that although motherhood is the most powerful force in
nature, but outside world is also dangerous. And he would lose his mother one day
when he grew up. He experienced the law of the wild-eat or be eaten: kill or be killed.
But in the end, he got a good, kind owner and he became a dog, a faithful dog.
In my opinion, I don’ like the end of the story. Although there is no doubt that it
really is a wonderful story because of the writer’ plan and his vivid words about the
animal. The character of the hero is depicted to a nicety. To my way of thinking, I like
the scene of the fights. Because of those a panorama of the wolf unfolded. He is
powerful and clever enough. Maybe writer wanted to tell us the harmony between
man and nature . so White Fang must live with a man, love his owner very much and
wore down his specific character from his wolf’ s blood.

White Fang is a meaningful book written by Jack London,who had a rich life
experience.Jack London came from America and he was born in a poor
family.He went to work when he was very young and he hand been to many
different places to make a living before. What’s more, return to his novel ,it
was published in1906.When I saw the title, I was curious about what is the
book mainly about ,but the picture gave me the answer.
As the surface plot shows us, this novel is about the adventure of a wolf
named White Fang. He should have been a wolf but there is 1/4 dog in his
pedigree.He lives with his mother in a cave at the beginning. In truth,his
father dies in a fight with a lynx ,so he grows up with a single
mother.Unfortunately,his mother is taken away by some strange “mananimals”,and the poor little wolf is left alone.White Fang has a tortuous
development since then. His first owner is Grey Beaver,who trains him as a
sled dog.White Fang also grows stronger during this time. He thinks the
miserable is going to be an end, while this is just the beginning of the tragic
life. White Fang’s second master,Beauty tricks White Fang’s owner into selling
him. Beauty is a cowardly ,cruel bully and makes White Fang a “fighting wolf”.
Beauty just uses White Fang to earn money and treats White Fang terribly.
Luckily, he meets his third owner Scott at last. Once in a battle ,White Fang is
beaten by a bulldog but eventually saved by Scott. Scott is a kind-hearted
man who is different from any other masters he has has before. He tames
White Fang with love then the wolf changed. Finally, Scott leaves for his new
job and takes White Fang with him. Anyway, the story has a satisfactory
ending.
The author’s style of writing is plain but each character he describes has
his or her own personality. He uses a lot of action description such as “the
she-wolf licked him and then curled around him”,”he sniffed at the grass,then
he scrambled onto a fallen tree trunk”,”Beauty beats White Fang without
mercy”,”Scott stroking and patting him and rubbing his ears”and so on,those
description reflected the characters’ psychological activities and make the
characters more lively, too. The book not only shows us a conflict between
men and animals but also provide us with a harmonious scene-------human
and animals live together happliy.
Personally, I think White Fang is worth reading, First of all, this novel
shows us the survival of the fittest. As White Fang does, he survives and even
grows tougher in a disparate situation because of his high adaptability.

Therefore, we need to adapt to all sorts of environment instead of waiting for
the environment to adapt to us. Besides, the most important is that the story
also tells me the importance of being friendly to animals. Beauty is violent to
White Fang so he learns to hate as he has never hated anyone or anything
before. However, Scott concerns him as well as a friend so White Fang
becomes docile. That means the love conquers all, even a savage wolf. I
strongly believe that as long as everyone’s heart is full of kindness ,sympathy
and love,the world will become brighter and brighter.
Black Beauty

Anna Sewell was born in 1820 and died in 1878.Black Beauty was
her only novel and she wrote it because she hadn’t been able to stand and
walk since a terrible accident. She often had to use horse carriages to get
around so she wrote Black Beauty in order to induce kindness, sympathy
and an understanding treatment of horses. She spent six years writing it
and much of the time she was too poor to leave her bed.
The book is about a horse’s life. Black Beauty is carefree and
keeps close to his mother when he is a colt. At that time, he leads a happy
life because he is in the possession of a kind groom. However, when he is
sold to a lady who wants horses to wear bearing-reins, his hard life begins.
From then on, he suffers a lot. He breaks his knees and then he is a horse
with scarred knees. What’s more, he is used to be a cab horse. However,
Jerry is a good man and he is as kind as John. Black Beauty has a short
cheerful life. Because of Jerry’s illness, he is sold to a corn dealer. He
leads his most difficult life there. However, in the end, he goes back to
his home.
This story really attracts me and makes an unforgettable impression
on me. I can remember Black Beauty’s words. “It was something I was
often thankful for in my working life. If only all horses could be treated
like this.” From his words, I find he is grateful and sympathetic. He is
always thinking of others. When he has a happy life, he hopes every
horse can lead a merry life like him. To be frank, I respect him. As far as
I am concerned, we should learn from him.
From my point of view, it is a worthy reading book. It can not only
tell us something about horse but also personality we should have. We
live in cities so it’s hard for us to pay attention to animals. Never have I
had the chance to learn about horses until I come upon with Black Beauty.
So I recommend it to all of you. In addition, we can think deeply. Why
don’t we do something responsible and trustworthy just like Black Beauty?
We should be a tolerant person, too. I am moved and learn a lot after
finishing reading it.

The 20000 Leagues Under Sea is a science fiction story written
by Jules Verne a French writer, when he was young, he would often row a
boat around the harbour with his younger brother, where he found the sight
of all the ships very exciting. This stirred his imagination, so the famous book
was birthed.
The gist of the story is as follows. A naturalist with his colleague and a
sailor-who were held captive at sea by Captain Nemo. They adventured
across the world beneath the oceans meeting many challenges- huge
icebergs, angry sharks and terrifying squids. They fought their way to against
the danger and kept alive. Also, when they saw a shark attacking a diver,
they risked their life to save him. But when they saw Nemo lost his mind to
kill so many people, the naturalist thought the sea was a cruel killer, so he
wanted to escape from the Nautilus. However, as soon as they were about to
leave, they met a Maelstorm. Eventually, the Nautilus with the Captain was
drawn in the whirlpool, while their escaping boat was hurled like a stone
towards the edge of the whirlpool – The three adventurers were able to be
alive.
The book modeled many kinds of complex characters. And the writer
described the characters’ acts and thinking very exquisite, lively and
appropriate. This is one of the reason why I really enjoy this book. The
Captain Nemo, who was a very complex , mysterious and the owner of the
dual-personalities, maybe was the most person I liked in this book. I bet
most people doesn’t agree me because they all hold that he was cruel and
cool-blooded person. However, in my opinion, to begin with, he was talented
and really wise, he can make Nautilus, the most powerful submarine all by
himself. Also, he has so much patience to build it. Next, he was courageous
and kind-hearted, not only he helped the weaker creature, but he wouldn’t
think twice about risking his life to save them . Although he was so cruel to
the creature who bullied the weaker. But it was just because he was so
hateful at the bullying act. At last, I thought I was really sympathetic to Nemo,
who had a strong appearance and personalities but lonely and hurt heart. It
was not his fault that he became cool-blooded, the unfair world drove him to
that. Also, I admired Conceil’s loyal and Ned’s brave and the expert’s kind.

As far as I’m concerned, to begin with, we should do the weaker a favor
like Nemo, but I don’t think Nemo was right to punish the person who bullied
the weaker so seriously such as killing them. Second, it’s important for us to
study the science and knowledge so enthusiastic just as the expert on the sea
in the book. Third, Conceil was so loyal that he deeply impressed me ,
although he wasn’t able to treat anyone like he treated the expert. And the
last, there’s no doubt the main characters were all so bold and courageous,
this point is very valuable for us to draw lessons from.

The lost world was written by Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), who was known
for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes. The main character----Holmes my
idol in my childhood, Conan Doyle’s mother played an important part during his
childhood, her vivid stories affected his literature in the future. He studied medicine at
Edinburgh University and began to write stories at the same time and one of them was
published when he was only 19. He tried different jobs after graduated and he started
writing stories again to fill in the time while waiting for patients.
The first character of the book is Ed Malone, who was a junior reporter but wanted
to be famous. He was given a task to report on a scientific meeting and met a badtempered professor, and a cold professor Summer Lee, which fought for Professor
Challenger’s story about prehistoric animal in plateau and decided to explore it. Ed
Malone admitted to go with them, the same as Lord John who was a person full of
adventure experience. When they arrived at plateau, they saw the real pterodactyl
themselves and Professor Summer Lee apologized to Challenge with great dignity.
They cut the tree for bridge lead to lost world and found a breathtaking view and
some very mysterious creatures but they also found some danger and decided to leave
until finished the map of the lost world. Ed Malone finished this task successfully and
was praised by these 3. At night, his need of praise blinded him and he went to
explore by himself. Unfortunately, he was chased by allosaurus and fell into a trap.
After climbed out of the trap, he found his companies had gone. After saved the 2
professors from ape-man with Lord John they were good treated by the cave dwellers,
finally left the plateau. Unfortunately, on their way to home, professor challenge’s
proof were shattered on rocks and at the end of the story, Professor Challenge spoke
once more at Zoological Institute and shown everybody a young pterodactyl, finally it
flew away from the window.
After read it, I found it’s important to open our mind, to explore and adventure,
maybe we can find something interesting. I also wonder how magical the nature is,
it’s unbelievable for them to find prehistorically creature in a plateau. And I am
amazing at the chapter that they tried to find a way to the lost world, they arrived at
the lost world through their cooperation, so it’s necessary to rally with your partner
when meet difficulties.

Among those six Good English books I have read, this adventure story can be
the most mysterious one that written by one of the most famous writers Arthur Conan
Doyle (1859-1930). He is the distinguished British detective novelist. Doyle was born
in Scotland, to an English father and an Irish mother. He added the middle
name ”Conan” to his surname later, but nobody known the reason. His mother played
an important part in his interest in literature, as she often told him stories. And it made
a base for Doyle to write many famous detective novels in the future, for example,
Sherlock Holmes, generally considered as a milestone in the filed of crime fiction,
and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He studied medicine in university and
later to be a normal doctor. But he still like writing as his owed a lot of writing
inspiration from his mother. He had divided his time between trying to be a good
doctor and struggling to become a recognized author. In 1886, he finally started to
write novels and gradually became world famous.
This story mainly tells the tale od four explorers – Professor Challenger,
Professor Summerlee, Lord John and me, a junior reporter for the London Daily
Gazette. Each of them with very different characteristics and different reason for their
journey. Professor Challenger was going to prove what he said to the audiences about
the Lost World is true. Professor Summerlee who is learned but scoopful was purpose
to against Professor Challenger and bring Lord John with him. As for me, a young
journalist was going to report the scoop of the century. The 4 men set off and soon
discover a hidden world with many adventures and many dinosaurs. They arrived at
the destination finally, Professor S. also acknowledged the Professor C.’s opinion, and
requested has obtained C’s forgiving. However, they have also suffered the attack
from local aborigines, forced with many dangers. They work very well to protest
against the ape-men, and saved the princess. Because of this ,they finally escape from
dangerous by the princess’s help. The 4 challengers finally bring the exciting news to
the world and get their succeed. But the dinosaur egg was cracked and the baby
dinosaur flew away.
The story takes environmental arranged in a closed zone, let the people back to a
world full of the disappeared creatures. The characters that in the special situation
struggle for survival. So the act become more valuable, also has the penetrating power
of wind. That made the adventure deeper instead of a normal exploration.
In my opinion, the most meaningful value of this book is not the thrilling plot,
but the rich imagination can bring us a lot of spiritual wealth. I admire Professor
Challenger’s courage as his name, I also found Professor Summerlee’s learned and
Lord John’s calm, the young journalist’s persistence of his dream. Maybe each of

them represent a key word of adventure that is “courage, learned, calm and
persistent.”

writing stories to fill in time while waiting for patients. He is best known for his
highly popular Sherluck Holmes stories which have been translated into more than 50
languages. Ed Malone, who was a newspaper reporter went to his new editor Mc to
get a dangerous and adventurous mission. After then, he was sent to interview
Professor Challenger, who was assaulted Professor Summer Lee, Lord John and me to
explore and proof he was true. Deciding to investigate the lost world, they are
attacked by Ptero at a swamp, finally, they went back to red world through thick and
thin, and they proved Professor Challenger was right.
As far as I’m concerned, the story told us an exploration of a band of adventurers
which were part of an expedition to prove the existence a lost world isolated from the
modern world. The writer used many vivid adjectives and adverbs to make the novel
attractive and imaginary. Sure enough, it’s a novel about adventure, but it used
different characters to show us different traits and personalities.
Generally speaking, it is absolutely a great novel. In my opinion, I respect Lord
John because he was brave and calm. I consider these traits are really crucial in that
they are closely related to our daily life. The book also makes me want to explore, not
in reality but in myself. I learn how to beat difficulties and problems by myself. I was
impressed by their spirits deeply though I can’t explore as them. However, I will
continue exploring in learning.

The lost word is a novel. It was written by Conan Doyle. Conan Doyle was

at all, the vivid stories she would tell me stand out so clearly that they
obscure the real facts of my life.’He began writing stories while he studied
medicine and the first of which was published when he was 19. Then he
practiced medicine in Plymouth. But it was not successful so he started
writing again. And finally he hand been a famous writer for Sherlock Holmes
stories.
This adventure story tells the tale of four explorers, each with very different
characteristics and a different reason for their journey. Professor challenger
tells an audience all about the dinosaurs he’s discovered in what he calls the
‘Lost Word’. As no one believes him. He sets the challenge for a team to go
and visit it for themselves. The four men set off and soon discover a hidden
world with many adventures and many dinosaurs. In these days, they faced
severe challenges many times. At last, they found the way to go back to their
home and at last Professor Challenger made a speech again. When no one
believed him, a strange bird which Challenger brought from the lost world
appeared in. It flew out of the window and disappeared/
The lost world is inexistence, so the story is fabled. In the end of the story,
a young pterodactyl appeared in front people and then sailed out of the
window. Author set a suspense in there. Would it find its way by instinct, back
to its lost world home? I think it made the story more attractive.
I think the book is afford for thought. The characters’ quirkiness experience
makes it important and attractive. Nay, the book reflect the human’s ignorant.
There are so many things that we don’t know in the world. We should explore
the world with a right attitude. I’m going to recommend this book to others to
make more and more people realize this principle.

Charles Dickens, born in 1812 died in 1870 was a great writer at that time and
was born in Portsmouth, England. He started school at the age of nine, but then was
sent to work in a factory because his father was sent to prison in London. He had to
work in terrible condition for a long time every day and worked there for 3 years. So
we can see that this novel was based on his true life. When he grown up, he started his
writing career as a journalist, and then gradually became a famous writer. His best
known works are David Copperfield, Oliver Twist, and Great Expectations.
The main character of this book is called David Copperfield. He had a great time
during his early childhood. But then, his mother married to Mr.Murdstone. And that
was a cold and cruel man who didn’t like me because he thought all children are
vipers. He and Miss.Murdstone punished me for every slightest things and they
treated his mother very badly too. At last, David was so angry that he bit on his hand
and was sent to a boarding school. The boarding school was not any better either. It
was old and shabby and the teachers there were horrible, but fortunately, there was
some good friend there and his life there gradually became better. Things came to a
change when David came to hear the death of his mother and baby brother. Because
the cruel Mr.Murdstone had smack up every of her strength and caused her death.
David felt as if his whole world had been shattered and then he was sent to a factory
of own by Mr.Murdstone. It was terrible there and has a very bad condition. He had to
work for a very long time there every day and almost nothing to eat. So at last, he
decided to escape from the factory and find here only relative, Aunt Betsey. She was
sort of an old woman who hated boys but she was still a very kind people and so there
David stared a new life and went to Trotwood for school. After David graduated from
school, he met his childhood friend Steerforth on a trip and also met Ham and Emily
which was in love. But at the end, Emily ran away with from Ham with someone else
and made Ham felt desperate and full of anger. After a period of time, David found
out that Uriah has been planning bad plans for Mr. Wickfied. And finally was
exposure by David and so he stopped Uriah’s evil plan. Soon, David married Mr.
Spenlow’s daughter Dora but died years later. But at last he found out that Agnes
Wickfield has loved him secretly for years and so at last they got married and had a
happy life together with Aunt Betsey.
The novel told the whole life of David Copperfield and the stories are full of
twists and turns so it’s very interesting and attractive for readers. The writher
gradually built the character of David Copperfield by events in the stories. For
instance, we can tell that David is full of justice when he exposure Uriah. And that he
was brave when he finally decided to escape from the factory which was like a living
hell.

Another thing is that the novel has its strong background. The book was written
in the time of Victorian so it show the society of that time and how people’s life is
like. So from this point of view, this book is a lot more than just a story, it also has its
historical value.

Recently I’ve finished reading David Copperfield written by Charles Dickens. It
is one of the most famous masterpieces of him. Dickens was born in England in 1812.
His childhood was really a hard time. His father was sent to prison when he was very
young. He had to work in a factory at the age of 12. Then he started his adult career as
a journalist. In his later years, he composed many works which are still popular in
today’s world. Charles Dickens is generally considered to be the greatest English
writer of the Victorian period and his books like Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol and
A Tale of Two Cities have been known by people all over the world.
This story is of David Copperfield, a story of a man who suffered a lot during his
life, struggled between virtue and evil, then became a famous writer and gained
happiness at last. David Copperfield lived with his mother and their housekeeper
Peggotty. Later David was sent away to a boarding school. Soon his mother died and
he was forced to work at a warehouse. He found his great aunt, Miss Betsey Trotwood
there and lived a leisure life with her. Then he went to work at a law firm where he
met Uriah Heep, who had a big scheme and Agnes, who became his good friend.
David managed to solve these problems. At last he became a successful writer and
married Agnes.
I like the main character David Copperfield best. His whole life was full of ups
and downs. He met all kinds of difficulties which troubled him a lot, but he never
gave up and managed to fight against his fate. Therefore, he finally found his paradise.
From the work, not only can we learn the living condition of Britain people in
the 19th century, but can also know more about the human nature. Human nature
passes through this book. In the novel, there are many characters. In my perspective,
these are the actually living characters in the real life. They not only lived in 19th
century but also exist in today’s world. The elegant human nature should always be
remembered. We should develop it for it does good to our society. The most
important thing I learn from the story is that we should be kind and be true to our life,
to our own.

Most of people in the world who love reading must have heard of this book.
It was written by Charles Dickens who used his own experiences as the
basement of the great novel.
Dickens’ life used to be difficult while he was young. But he chose to stand
strong instead of being beaten by the fate. And now, Charles Dickens is
generally considered to be the greatest English writer of the Victorian period.
Just like Dickens, the main character of this story, David has a difficult
adolescence too. He is born after his father’ s death and soon gets a violent
stepfather. His stepfather often slaps him for ridiculous reasons like not being
able to figure out maths problems which are apparently far beyond the ability
of kids at that age. And one day, David bites his stepfather, and is sent to a
horrible school. The teachers in that school are just like his stepfather. He is
bullied by the boys there before he meets his best friend, J Steerforth who
helps him out. Not long after going to the boarding school, David’ s mother
died with the baby he has recently. After that, little David is sent to a factory
to work and lives in a kind man’ s house. But the kind man’ s caught because
of debt later. So David has to live on his own. He plans to find his aunt. After
he reaches his aunt’ s place, he starts to enjoy the best few years of life there.
When he grows up, he met the one in his life, Miss Dora and marries her.
They live a happy life before Dora dies. After Dora’ s death, David goes to see
his old friend Agnes, finding that she’ s been in love with him a long time.
Otherwise, they get married and lived the rest of their time happily.
After reading this moving novel and learning about the ups and downs in
David’ s life, I admire him for his intelligence and endurance. As for the writer,
his words are fabulous with a strong power inside of them. And the stories
are amazing, too, it’ s still sad with a happy ending which makes everyone
satisfied.
David Copperfield is one of the must-read in the world.

“Frankenstein” is a novel by Mary Shelley who was the famous English
author——Shelley’s wife. Mary Shelley was born in 1797 and she died in 1851.
she wrote her most famous book ” Frankenstein” in 1818. the idea for the
book came from a dream Mary Shelley had on holiday in Switzerland.she saw
a man creating something in a laboratary, and it coming into life.she saw him
run away from it in horror and go to bed; and then wake up terrified, with it
staring at him. The weather in Switzerland was so terrible that Mary and her
friends decided to write horror stories. But eventually, “Frankenstein” was the
only story finished.
the title shows us the main character’s name.Victor Frankenstein is a
scientist who is fond of trying to creat new life. He spare no effort to do
research up to night and eventually his experiments lead him to make a living

creation and he flees leaving his monster to fend for itself. The monster
becomes lonely and bitter when he was bad treated by others. For example,
not only do peope hate him very much, but he was even beaten by people
when are afraid of him. So, he becomes angry and causes the death of all
those closest to Frankenstein, who refuses to make him a companion. For
instance, the monster killed frankenstein’s brother and the servant was
condemned to death. At the end of the story, frankenstein dying of
exhaustion after a long hunt of the monster. And the monster also dies.
As a matter of fact, this story tells us a lot, when people meet a ugly man,
some of them bad treat him. In addition, the monster is kind and friendly at
first, but when he meet people. not only are people unconcerned, but also
people even want to beat him just when they first meet him, there’s no doubt
that that hurt the person like the monster in the story a lot. It’s true that we
should help him with a friendly smile instead of hating them.
Last but not least, this book is worth reading. “Frankenstein” is probably
the first “mad scientist” story. Many films and books have been based on it or
borrowed. This book is popular in people who love horror stories. And I
promise that you will never regret to read this book. Don’t miss this book!

The book Frankenstein was written by Mary Shelley in 1818. Mary was a famous
poet’s wife. She wrote this book because of a game with four of her friends. And it
was this book that made her famous. Frankenstein is now being considered as the very
first fiction novel in the world.
The story is about a scientist who named Frankenstein wants to do his best to
create a life. He makes it, however, the creature which he created is a monster. The
monster is kind-hearted and friendly at first. But the people whom are helped by the
monster recoil from his ugliness when they see his face. The monster helps other
people but all of them not only do not being appreciate to him but attack him or
shatter him. All this makes the monster in rage. Then he cursing all humanity and
swearing vengeance on everyone. He wants his creator to create another creature like
him so that he will not be lonely anymore. But Frankenstein does not help him. So he
kills Frankenstein’s brother and friends. He even kills Frankenstein’s wife on
Frankenstein’s wedding. And since then, Frankenstein’s life has been spent in pursuit
of the monster. On the waste of ice and snow, Frankenstein dies and the monster
regrets for all the things he has done and comes to his own death.
The book is written in three versions — story about Captain Walton, story about
Frankenstein and story about the monster. It shows up the feeling of the character
clearly and smoothly. The vivid description makes readers feel as if they are the
characters in the story. And it is what that makes people deep in thoughts thinking
about humanity and evil or kindness.
This is what I have been thinking about after reading the book. I have read it a
year ago and after a year read it again I found that I have some deeper thoughts about
it. What cause the monster become evil and vile? And why Frankenstein did not
create a companion of the monster? I think I had found the answer this time. Everyone
is kind-hearted when they were born. But loneliness and self-abasement made the
monster full of thoughts of revenge. Frankenstein didn’t create a female monster
because of he was not certain that if the female monster will obey the rules in the
human’s world and if she won’t hurt people. All of this is uncertain so he dares not to
create her. The book tells me that do not concentrate too much on the outside of
human being, which does not show the essence of a person.

s poet ,Percy Bysshe Shelley. Her masterpiece Frankenstein is known as the first scien
tific fiction. Because of that , she was known as “the mother of scientific novels”. The
Frankenstein was written in 1818 and since it’s published, many movies and books b
ased on it became famous in Hollywood.
The novel mainly described the story of a scientist with great intelligence named Fr
ankenstein.He created life through his hard work.But the only thing that matter is,the
“thing” he created was so ugly that Frankenstein let it ran away.Not long afterwards,
when Frankenstein thought that he rubbed the monster off his life, the monster murder
ed his brother and made Jasmine ,a sweet girl who came to help Frankenstein’s family
,blame for murder and condemned to death. After Frankenstein got aware of this, the
monster asked him to create a creature just like him. Frankenstein agree at first but he
destroyed that creature before completing because he refuse to bring more misery to t
his world. The monster is furious about it and killed Frankenstein’s best friend, Henry
and her finacee, Elizabeth, which cause his father’s death. After this, Frankenstein ch
ased the monster down over the world and eventually died on a ship. After Frankenste
in’s death, the monster committed suicide in North Pole.
The whole story fascinated me very much for the brilliant imagination. The misery of
both Frankenstein and the monster make me feel pitiful for them. In this story, the con
cept of “people created life” was first mentioned and I think that’s the most memorabl
e thing about this book. And the vivid details in this book which shows the misery of
character really touched me for the feeling is straight from heart. And what’s more, th
e personality of the monster interest me most. In this book it shows the process of ho
w the monster turned from good to evil. And the process is really thoughtful to me.
Frankenstein shows that whether a person is evil or good depend on how people tre
ated him. I’ve been thinking the question for a long time. When the monster asked Fra
nkenstein to create a mate for him, why didn’t Frankenstein made the monster promis
ed him that he and his mate won’t bring any misery to the who world? If he requested,
I’m sure the monster will agree, and all the tragedies later won’t happen. Also, why
won’t a person treated the monster kindly? Only because he was ugly? I’m sure if so
mebody treated him well, he will try to be kind and understanding and he won’t bring
so much misery. All in all, Frankenstein is not only a scientific fiction to me, it also sh

The novel is mainly about an orphan, Jane Eyre.
Her parents were both died because of a serious
disease, so she lives with her mother’s family. Her
cruel aunt and spiteful cousins treat her badly. They
even put her in the red-room where her uncle died nine before; it is so gloomy that
Jane passes out. After mistreating her, they send Jane to Lowood School to have her
‘worldly pride’ crushed! Lowood School is a boarding school run by the inhumane
Mr. Brocklehurst. Jane is soon branded a liar, which hurts her even more than
malnutrition and cold, but Miss Temple, the teacher Jane admires, later clears her of
these charges. She also finds her only friend in Helen Burns, who is very learned and
intelligent, has a patient and philosophical mind, and believes firmly in God. After a
serious typhoid fever epidemic occurs, Helen dies. The conditions in Lowood
improve and Jane slowly finds her place in the institution, eventually becoming a
teacher. Then Jane work as Mr. Rochester’s governess. She falls in love her employer
and they plan to marry until Jane discovers that Mr. Rochester is already married and
his insane wife lives in his house! Jane flees and by chance is taken in by the kindly
cousins of her father’s family. One night, however Jane hears Mr. Rochester calling
her and when she finds him again she discover that his wife is dead and they get
married, although Mr. Rochester lost a hand, an eye, and sight in the other eye in a
fire. Ten years after their marriage, during which she gave birth to a son and Mr.
Rochester gained part of his sight back. Jane's long quest to find love and a sense of
belonging is finally fulfilled.
My favorite person in this novel is Miss Timple. She is a warm-hearted teacher at
Lowood who generously offers the girls bread and cheese when their breakfasts are
inedible. Miss Temple’s ladylike behavior makes her a positive role model for Jane.
She cares for Jane and Helen, offering them seedcake in
her room and providing Helen with a warm, private bed
when she is dying.
I learn a lot from the novel. Actually, Jane isn’t pretty,
and of course, the ordinary appearance doesn’t make

others feel good of her, even her own aunt feels disgusted with it. And some others
even think that she is easy to look down. However, we remember her goodness: for
someone who loses arms and blinds in eyes, for someone who despises her for her
ordinariness, and even for someone who has hurt her deeply. So Jane’s self –
respecting helps her find love in the end. In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the
face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind
isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others
find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will
like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s noble soul, a beautiful heart
can be called as ‘an everlasting beauty’, just as Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart
enflamed and a soul enchanted’.

This book seemed like an autobiography,described Jane Eyre’s life,full of
setbacks and misfortunes. Jane Eyre was an orphan,taken cared by her aunt
Mrs Reed,a hateful and jealous woman.She disliked Jane,and spoiled her son
John,who was a big bully interested in humilating Jane. Jane was so weak
and pale,but one day she couldn’t bear it anymore and tried to fight
back.Obviously,she failed.After all,she was sent to Lowood school,which were
girls nightmare.The enviornment was cold and food were horrible.But the
headmaster didn’t care about it and let teachers treat girls badly,even though
his wife and daughter were just like the glasshouse’s flowers.When I was
reading this chapter,I felt extremely angry about him! How can people be so
mean because others don’t have power to fight back? That wasn’t fair!
Fortunely, Jane Eyre met Helen and Miss Temple,two kind-hearted warm
people,influenced Jane not to become a extreme girl. Jane learned to calm
down and improve her attainment. Eventually, she left lowood,and receive a
work as a governess in thornfield hall,where Jane met the guy she fell in love
with, Jane came across Mr.Rochester, Mr.Rochester wasn’t very
handsome,but he was rich and well-educated ,his black hair and complexion
gave her a deep impression. Jane wasn’t fit Mr.Rochester.He was too old and
already had a daughter and a wife. Jane was so poor and plain,not like a
noblewoman.He would marry a charming noblewoman,like Blanche Ingram.
Although they had lots of difference,they just attracted each other and fell in
love. When they about to marry, Jane was told Mr.Rochester had a wife
alive,and she was mad. Strongly self-respect that was made from her
miserable experience,decided Jane left him comletely,which deeply hurt their
feelings. That was so cruel.
That wasn’t easy for Jane. She escaped with no money,but by chance she
was taken by the kindly cousins of her father’s family—St.John’s heart for
anything but his calling as a missionary,he persuaded Jane to come with him
to go to india,as his wife. But St.John didn’t love Jane at all,and Jane found
herself can’t forget Mr.Rochester. By accident ,she went back to thornfield

and heard that there was a serious fire destoryed thornfield,and
Mr.Rochester’s one hand was so crushed that it had to be amputated at
once,and he was blind. This time, Jane couldn’t contain her love anymore,she
came back with him ,and happily accepted him,although now Jane was a very

Poor Jane found a happy ending.
When I first reading it ,I wondered why Jane fleed,just because
Mr.Rochester didn’t tell her the truth? Was that really important enough to
break them out? After I read it again,I came to realize why, Jane had a
miserable childhood,so she always guarded herself that nobody could hurt her.
Also,she was a devout believer of a religion. The religious doctrine didn’t all
man to have two wife,that was unhallowed. Jane must struggled for this over
and over again,but she chose to leave. This was the best proof of Jane’s
personality, I appreciated a lot.
People thought women were weak and delicated,obeyed to men,but Jane
firmly destroyed this point of view. Who said women can’t live alone? Lived
through those difficulties, Jane deserved her perfect life,so did we.
Now,you can see how much I love this book,and I’d like to talk about it to
my friends for ages. I still feel I don’t catch the every meaning of this

Apparently, from the title we can see that the book is all about a woman called
Jane. She lost her parents at a early age, which lead to the miserable life at her aunt’s
house. Afterwards, Jane was sent to Lowood because her aunt was too unpleased to
see her. However, although the financial circumstance was terrible, Jane met the girl
who almost influenced her entire life. After she was 18, Jane became a tutor and fell
in love with her student’s father, Mr Rochester. Their love took twists and turns. But
also because of it, they both got more mature, considerate and tough.
Charlotte molded a perfectly multiple character----Jane. She is independent
and indifferent at some degree, but also she is longing for love. Her childhood taught
her to be practical and plain but she didn’t lose the ideal faith and the strong desire to
see the world. Those characteristics made up a profound Jane that attracted Mr
Rochester, as well as us readers. Every tiny event happened to Jane contributed to her
qualities. It’s such a honor to see how a person change gradually.
Finished the novel, I was completely moved by Jane, who was so tough and
calm. Her stories taught me to always remain faith in ourselves. We are the only gods
that are capable of controlling our fate. And whether there is heaven doesn’t really
count. The reflection of our life’s value depends on the attitude towards life. Jane
went through with the upset childhood and eventually reached the happiness. And it’s
what we need to do: learn to be tolerant and tough enough to face every trouble

main idea in her books. She has a very important place in the history of literature.
The story of Jane Eyre can be regarded as an autobiographical work. The little girl
named Jane Eyre is an orphan who lives with her aunt Mrs. Reed and her three
children. Mrs. Reed is very rich, but she treats little Jane mercilessly. Jane has tried
her best to please her aunt and be a good child as they said, before she finally finds
that there is nothing she can do to stop her aunt from hating her. She is sent to a
school called Lowood because of the advice from a doctor. Lowood isn’t a paradise at
all ,the man who is in charge of Lowood doesn’t care about the life of the girls. Jane

Lowood. Then the quality of the life of the girls begins to be noticed by the public.
Jane spends another eight years before she suddenly has the idea to go to the out
world. She puts up an advertisement and becomes a governess of a little girl named
Adele in Thornfield. She soon feels in love with her employer, Mr.Rochester. She is
about to marry him before she finds out that he has already been married for years.
His wife is a mad woman and he has been living bitterly for many years. Although
she still loves him, Jane leaves Thornfield and goes to another place where she stays
with a group of friendly people who she knows at last that they are her cousins. After
refusing the offer from St John to marry him, Jane came back to Mr.Rochester,
surprisingly discovers that Thornfield is destroyed. She finds Mr.Rochester again and
live with him happily.
In my opinion, what the writer really wants to discuss is the wishes of women to be
independent and respectful. Women are always being protected by man and rely on
them. But Jane isn’t the kind of women. She is wise and intelligent, and she knows
exactly what she wants. That is a big progress of that age.
If I have to recommend the book to others, the only thing I would like to say is
“come on and have a good taste of the inner world of people and the interesting plot!”
I like Jane Eyre,and I think it is a book worth reading. Jane would rather leave the one
she loves than stay with him and being trapped in an embarrassed situation, this kind
of self-respect is the thing that we may already lost in nowadays. There is also a

The four stories in this book are all from a famous British writer,
Arthur Conan Doyle. He was a good example for working hard to
make your dream come true. He was trained as a doctor, however,
he wanted to be a writer. With his great efforts, he made it and
became famous for his first Sherlock Holmes story in 1887.Since
that, he had become a successful man and Holmes became
everyone’s hero. Till now, Holmes has been pressing deeply in
people’s minds all over the world.
It seems that there are only cases and cases and someone may think that is not
interesting at all. But they are wrong. Instead of being fed up with the stories, people
who read the stories are attracted strongly by its exciting and amazing plots and
intelligence of Holmes. Every case solved by Holmes is different and seems the truth
cannot be revealed. Even the best police cannot observe such clues and make the
mysterious cloud disappeared. Holmes uses deductive methods and analyze the
directive truth to get other information. Finally, as a result to the combination of
Watson’s loyal and Holmes’s talent, they made many cases which seem unable to be
revealed. They are the enemies of suspects and the represent of justice.
In the cases, the author always uses some information to lead the case came in sight
of the Watson’s. And then, gradually, we will know more and more information
without any thought which seem to be unconnected. It’s in this way that readers are so
attracted by the cases. Everyone will have his own thoughts and doubts. They will be
eager to know what happened in next parts of stories and addicted to one and another
mysterious cloud of the cases. It’s great and intelligent for the author to use such a
skillful mean to write stories. Another important point seems to be the colorful
imagination of the author. It’s him that make up mysterious cases and fantastic way of
Holmes and Watson to reveal them. That’s really surprising and nobody could reach
over the level.
I believe that the story of Sherlock Holmes must be one of the unique detective
series which has been popular and published all over the world into many types of
languages. It seems that every story in the series could be as a classical short story
remaining in every detective fans. The crafty set of the plots and the fantastic
explanation of the characters which all seem so simple but amazing. I don’t know
how can Conan Doyle write so many such great stories. Maybe that’s the unique
writing talent.

also a very famous Japanese animation which has the main character called Conan.
The writer was trained as a doctor. He wrote this story when he was an eye doctor.
After the story was published, it was a huge success and then he became a writer.
There are four stories in this book. Holmes is a very smart man and as detective, he
finished all his jobs well. The four stories are about four different adventures. All the
criminals, in the stories, did something evil. And all of them did those for themselves.
They were all very selfish. Holmes found out the truth in the end and caught all of
them.
The four stories are really impressing and exciting. Sometimes when I read it, I
felt nervous! Each story is very attractive. The words in this book are not so hard but
they are very nice that I can always feel the feelings of the characters.
From these four stories, I’ve learned a lot. All the criminals are very selfish. I think
we should think about others more, and also we should not care about money so much.
Money can’t buy happiness. I learned a lot from Holmes too. He is a great guy. He is
very smart, gentle and justice. And I should be a man like him.

Witten in the first chapter of the book Pride and Prejudice is an extraordinary
sentence of which even a person who has had only a brief look upon the book will not
fail to receive a deep impression-It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single
man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. In terms of Sherlock
Holmes, we’d better alter the sentence into “It is a fact universally accepted by
readers throughout the world that an excellent book in possession of our famous
detective Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly a masterpiece of all times.”
Having once started reading this fiction, I was completely immersed in the
mysterious story presented by the book. As the saying goes, “Well begun, half done”.
At the beginning of the story, just like many other detective stories, the author gives
us a brief description of the condition by the words of a client. However, unlike other
ones, this story first delineates the client’s strange behavior at length to indicate the
severity of the incident in order to attract the readers to continue reading it. As is
known to all, vivid depiction is essential to detective stories since it can help the
readers understand each figure’s characteristics and visualize the scenes, thus making
the story more authentic and attractive.
As far as I am concerned, nothing is more admirable and surprising in the hero
Sherlock Homes than his profound knowledge which has certainly assisted him a lot
when he was studying the case. Take the bicycle types. For instance; Holmes actually
is capable of recognizing 42 different varieties of bicycle types. From his speaking
“Every mystery has an answer”, we can readily shape the impression of a man with
great intelligence and inflexible will. In this case, after getting rid of unrelated facts,

book Robinson Crusoe came from the sailor’s story, which was his most famous
book.after the book was published ,it was imitated by other authors, who started
writing stories about shipwrecks and survival, still popular themes today..
The whole story was started by an accident. The main character of the series
Robinson Crusoe was a very experienced sailor, he once warned by his father not to
go to the sea. However, he didn’t follow it. He and other sailors ran into trouble
almost as soon as they set sail for Africa .he was shipwrecked in a storm and found

companions were all died; he managed to fetch some arms, tools and other supplies
from the ship before it sank. He proceed to build a fenced-in habitation and cave,
keeps a calendar by making marks in a piece of wood. He hunted, grew corn, learned
to make pottery, raised goats, etc. He read the Bible and suddenly become religious,
thanking God for his fate in which nothing is missing but society.
One day, he helped a prisoner to escape, Crusoe named his new companion
"Friday" after the day of the week he appeared, and taught him English and converted
him to Christianity. They worked together and eventually saved the rest of the slaves.
and Friday’s father who promises to help them escape to Europe before this help
arrives though, Crusoe and Friday managed to capture an English ship from its
mutineers and the grateful captain takes them to England.
We can imagine how despairing had he experienced on the isolated island
without any necessity for life. In order to survive in the island. Crusoe learns that he
should work with his surroundings rather than loathing in his misfortune, he is able to
find and use everything he needs. in order to carry out his life, he also learned to build
everything he need on his own. Further more, we can easily find out that friends
played an extremely crucial role in all of his moves, without Friday’s helping and
supporting, he can do little of thus he did. In addition, we ought to create some thing
different on our own hands and enjoy our normal life. Maybe our present life is not
very satisfying, we still have the opportunity to change and improve it by our own
efforts, which make everything seems so great.
