Fifty-seven percent of Americans do not support the Iran nuclear agreement, according to a new Gallup poll. The survey reveals that only 30 percent of Americans favor the deal, which is
intended to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifted sanctions on Iran. AAF
research found that the deal will provide the Islamic State with about $140 billion in sanctions
relief and unfrozen assets.
You’re Invited! AAF is hosting an event Tuesday at noon on “Evaluating the BEPS Initiative:
Who Wins, Who Loses, and What Matters Most.” U.S. Congressman Charles Boustany will give
the keynote address and the event will feature a panel discussion examining the recent Base
Erosion and Profit Shifting initiative by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and
Development, the extent to which countries will implement BEPS-related policies, and the
implications these policies will have on U.S. interests. RSVP here.
Eakinomics: Keeping Score on the Left
The 2016 presidential race is in full swing, and it is often hard to keep track of the various
policy proposals being launched by the candidates. In an effort to make keeping track of the
race on the left side easier, here is a template for recording policies — or inventing one of
your own for the candidates.

INVEST $<taxes> BILLION TO SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE <policy area> AND CONNECT
<targeted voters> TO OPPORTUNITY
America’s <policy area> is in crisis. Progressives will empower underserved Americans with
the resources and flexibility so <targeted voters> share in economic opportunity. They will:
Revitalize <policy area> to recover from years of underinvestment. Congress has not
made nearly enough resources available to approach the scale of the challenges we face.
Progressives’<policy area> initiative will strengthen and expand on these efforts:
Give local governments the resources and flexibility they need to make a major impact. Progressives will give local communities the resources and flexibility they need to make
scalable, multi-block investments to turn <policy area> around. These strategic
investments return multiples in the form of job creation and economic prosperity.
Ensure that job creation in <policy area> is properly targeted. Progressives will support
strategies to overcome obstacles to <targeted voters> that ensure that needy workers
and disadvantaged youth are employed in the effort.
Connect <policy area> to high-poverty constituencies to economic opportunity. Progressives will link <policy area> assistance programs to policies that connect their
recipients to economic opportunity.
Giving recipients of <policy area> assistance more choice. Progressives will work to
expand the choices that recipients have. Progressives believe we should expand their
range of options.
Check the skyrocketing rise in <policy area> costs. Nearly half of all Americans between
age 25 and 34 pay to great a fraction of their monthly income on<policy area>. High
costs not only weigh heavily on the pocketbooks of these families but are often a drag on
growth. To tackle this problem, Progressives will target $<taxes> billion to increase the
supply of <policy area> and lower barriers facing <targeted voters>.
Reducing the cost. Progressives will invent a new <policy area> tax credit.
