A Day of Education Without Communication of God
If I lost the freedom of declaring the truths of God in my class for even one day,
some things would remain the same. I could still greet my students with a smile. I
could still teach great lessons in language arts, math, and science. My class could
still play learning games and do science experiments to gain knowledge. I could
even help my students to treat each other nicely according to the Golden Rule. But
there are many things that would not happen if I could not present God in my
classroom each day:
*Our prayer and praise journal would be gone, and students would not be allowed to share
prayer requests and praises.
*I would not be allowed to pray aloud for and with my students about the concerns they
share.
*I would not be able to share Jesus’ love for my students when they do not feel loved or
when they are hurt by others.
*I would not be able to help my students memorize large portions of Scripture and help
them understand what it means for their lives.
*I would not be able guide the students with Scripture when they are struggling with sinful
behavior or thoughts of inadequacy.
*Language would just be words instead of a gift from God to be used and learned with care
and responsibility. The words a student chose to use would have no standard.
*Math would just be numbers instead of patterns established by a God who does not
change.
*We would not be able to say that history has any purpose or direction given by a sovereign
God.
*My class would not be allowed to express aloud our thankfulness for the food, clothes,
home and families that God has given us.
*I would not be able to fully teach that all truth is God’s truth.
I know I speak not only for myself, but for all of the staff at KCS when I say how very
thankful we are to teach in a Christian school that stands on God’s Word as truth
and that is committed to teaching our students to……………
LOVE JESUS, SERVE OTHERS and BE DIFFERENT!

The K-4 class has enjoyed making two of
Eric Carle’s books. The first one we made
was “Brown Bear, Brown Bear. This helped
us learn to read our color words. The boys
are pictured with this book.
Then as we have been working
on the days of the week, we
made our version of “The Very
Hungry Caterpillar”. The girls
are pictured with this book.
Stop by our room on open
house night to see what else we
have been doing.
Our picnic with P foods when we studied the letter P.
Our class started going to P.E. in February and walking in the mileage club.
We look forward to each Tuesday and Thursday! We were excited to be
able to visit the P.E. store and spend our P.E. dollars.
We enjoyed our field trip to the Discovery Science Place in
March. We took our picture with Stuffy and we learned
about nutrition and the organs in our bodies.
Our class is reading one vowel words well now. Now we have begun to learn to read
and mark two vowel words. We love to read!

cake to celebrate the 100th day of school.
SNOWMEN
FOXY ROXY DAY
Our class had an outbreak of
chicken pox like our alphabet

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS FLAT STANLEY?
In our class, we read a book about a boy who got flattened by a bulletin board. His name is Flat
Stanley. In the book, Flat Stanley’s family mailed him to visit a friend in California. Come join
us for Open House and see the exciting places the Kindergarteners’ Flat Stanley visited.
BOOKS, BOOKS & MORE BOOKS!
We made books to reinforce color, number and snappy words.

In honor of our Trip Around the World, the first grade students are learning to write a special
kind of poem called haiku. This Japanese style of poetry is about syllables, rather than
rhyming. It is always three lines long with the first and third lines having five syllables and the
middle line having seven. The poem is usually about something in nature, but it doesn’t have
to be. With a little bit of help, this is what the students came up with!

The Stars at Night are Big and Bright…..Deep in the Heart of Texas!!
The 4th grade class has recently been studying the state of Texas by completing their
Texas State Notebooks. These notebooks have the students look at many aspects about
their state including its history, symbols, famous people, industry, agriculture, vacation
spots, and so much more. The students will be presenting a chapel program on April 9th
where they will be sharing much of what they have learned. Here is a little bit of what each
student said they have learned so far about the great state of Texas!
Rachel ~ I have learned about the Texas State Seal. On the front is a lone star with an oak
branch to the left of it which stands for strength. An olive branch is to the right of the star
and it symbolizes peace.
Adam ~ I have learned what the back of the Texas State Seal looks like. It shows the
Alamo, our state shrine, and the six flags which have flown over Texas.
Caleb ~ I have learned that Jeb Hensarling is my United States Representative in
Washington D.C.
Kali ~ I have learned that Stephen F. Austin is called the Father of Texas. He brought
hundreds of families into Texas to settle here. Our capital city is named for him.
J.T. ~ I learned that the governor of Texas is Rick Perry.
Jai ~ I learned that Texas’ two United States senators are John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.
Sloan ~ I have learned about the San Jacinto Monument. San Jacinto is where Sam
Houston and the Texas Army defeated Santa Anna and the Mexican army to win Texas'
independence from Mexico.

In January, KCSA was featured on the front page of The Kaufman Herald
and The Terrell Tribune. The articles spoke about the emphasis of
volunteering. We were excited when we received the following note from
State Representative Lance Gooden:
Dear Ms. Butler:
I read with great interest about the emphasis KCSA places on volunteering and
teaching the students the importance of giving back all year long. These are
wonderful lessons that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Please accept
my thanks for your efforts on behalf of your students.
Sincerely,
Lance Gooden
