WARNING
This product is designed and sold solely for use as an odor
masking agent to be used in conjunction with spills or unintentional releases of odorants used with liquefied petroleum
gas (hereinafter “LP Gas”) or natural gas. This product is not
intended for long-term use. This product is not designed for,
nor is it intended that this odor masking agent be used for,
masking the odor of escaped odorized LP Gas or escaped
odorized natural gas. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
SHOULD THIS PRODUCT BE USED TO MASK THE ODOR
OF ESCAPED ODORIZED LP GAS OR THE ODOR OF
ESCAPING NATURAL GAS.
LP Gas and natural gas are fuels and are designed to be used
within systems that confine the gas. Both LP Gas and natural
gas are odorless and colorless. Accordingly, an odorant is
added to LP Gas and to natural gas so that said gases can
be detected if they escape from such confinement. If this
product were incorrectly used to mask the odor of escaped
gas, whether LP Gas or natural, it could prevent or interfere
with the detection of said escaping gas. When detection of
escaping gas is prevented or interfered with, persons in the
presence of such gas may not be aware that they are in the
presence of the gas. This could lead to the possible unintentional ignition of the escaped gas. Ignition of escaped LP
Gas or natural gas can lead to death, serious personal injury
and property damage.
LP Gas and natural gas odorants are, when exposed to an
ignition source, in and of themselves flammable and under
certain circumstances, explosive. Ignition of escaped LP Gas
or natural gas odorants can lead to death, serious personal
injury and property damage. Accordingly, when this product is
used to mask the odor of a spilled or unintentional release of
such an odorant, all persons who come into or near the area
where the masking agent is being used should be warned of
said potential and instructed to not smoke or use any open
flames when in or around the area in which this product is
being used to mask said odorant.
In addition to the foregoing warnings, persons using this
product should be aware that there may be federal and/or
state statutes, rules and regulations regarding a person’s
long-term and/or short-term workplace exposure to chemicals
found in LP Gas and natural gas odorants. Under normal
circumstances, persons in the presences of said chemicals
would detect same by smell and remove themselves from the
odor. Use of this odorant masking agency could prevent such
detection and result in persons being exposed to levels of the
chemicals in violation of said federal and/or state statutes,
rules and regulations.
